"Pete and his team did an outstanding job from the moment they arrived until the final clean-up. What a hard working team! Pete did a great job communicating with me prior to the job and updating me throughout the day during the job. We love our new roof and the quality job! We were impressed with the clean up...not a single piece of trash was left behind!! I would highly recommend Pete and his team for any roofing job and would be pleased to serve as a reference to any potential future clients of Spicer Brothers."

"I hired First State Bath for converting a bath tub to a walk-in shower. I feel so thankful to them from introduction through job completing. They listened carfully to my requests and proposed a small suggestion, but it turned out very special to my need. It was choice of 54" long instead of 60". It adds space for easy moving in the bathroom. It might have no impact to most people, but is very helpful and special in my situation. The project is worked out very well with on time, clean and high quality. They did great job at very reasonable cost."

"The general contractor, Patrick, was called. He came to the job site. I told him what I wanted, an apartment above my garage that my grandson could live in year-round, so it had to have heat and air conditioning. I told him I was getting quotes from several resources, and I would choose who to go with. He said you will find my prices are fair. I gave him a layout of my expectations of the project. A few days later he gave me a quote which was on the lower end that others had given me, so I was excited. He promised it would be done in two weeks three max. I agreed to the price. He said that his foreman would be there Monday and he did not come. He showed up the next day. the workers consisted of the foreman, his son (under 18) sometimes a helper, and an electrician/plumber. The helper and electrician/plumber only spoke Spanish. I went through the job explaining where i wanted plugs and we discussed where mini split would be located. a little background. My husband died June 19 I became very ill and could not go u the stairs to check on work. My grandson would try his best to keep me updated, my grandson is mental impaired, so he is not mature. I then became so ill was in the hospital for two weeks and had to have surgery. When I came home, I still could not go upstairs. The job continued and I asked my grandson how it was going he was excited and said all good. After the kitchen was installed, my grandson sent a picture, laminate counter that was supposed to be solid surface, the one cabinet is light grey where it was to be white like all the others, there was to be a linen closet in bathroom which was never put and the mini split was not installed outside as discussed with electrician, through phone translator, it needed to have same type base under unit as my house air conditioner. The flooring at entrance floor does not go all the way to wall. Some of the outlets I requested were not put in, some of the drywall was not good, they used my ladder and got paint all over it after 3 months it was replaced but not to the caliber of mine. I told Patrick I would buy some things and that became an issue when final bill was presented. At this point I had had it. It took way too long, I am dealing with my husband's death, and he tells me I owe him for the mini split he forgot to put it in quote. I just paid him the amount I owed him because I just wanted it to be done. Grandson and I had tried for weeks to get up with them and inform them that when he switched from air to heat the heat doesn't work. Electrician came out and couldn't figure out what went wrong. Said he would be back after he researched it. He never showed up again. Patrick was informed and said he would get someone out there. The cold weather came I had to buy a room heater. Two weeks ago, I notice a water spot on my newly painted ceiling. I called Patrick and he said it cant be from what we did. I explained there was no pipes over there that can be leaking. He said he could send someone but if they don't feel it's from the system he would charge me $500. I said I'll get someone to check it out. Another contractor came in showed me pictures and it is leaking from the duct work that goes outside from the mini split. There is not enough tape around the joints. I called Patrick and he no longer returns my calls. I have just no started to feel I can cope with my husband's death and would have let all the poor workmanship because I couldn't double check their work. However, when the mini split and the leak came, I said this is not right. The last time I talked to Patrick he said he would have to find a find another electrician because his electrician was in jail."

"HORRIBLE CONTRACTORS!!! I have had contractors before and experienced some issues but this Anthony guy is very unprofessional and he is an absolutely nightmare! Not a single item was completed from the contract he and I agreed on and he took 60% of the contract amount and he stopped working the property. I had a property with some cosmetic work stuff and repairs which shouldn’t be that complicated. After he toured the property and gave me estimated time frame for 2 weeks. I know normally how it is not done with contractors so I asked him a few more times and confirmed if he could really finish it in two weeks. He was confident and said two weeks for no problem. After it has been almost 4 weeks, not even a quarter of work has been done and I noticed he didn’t even show up. He has so many excuses and complaints every single time when I contacted him. It felt like he was working for free which was not true. We agreed on 3 installment payments, 1st installment, before the job start about 30% of the total price, and 2nd one, 1/3 of the total price, and the last one at the completion of the job. After 2 weeks of work and not much of work has been done, he already requested for the 2nd installment. I asked him, the work has not been done 2/3 of the job, more over not even half way done. Anyway, he got upset and he wouldn’t continue the job if I didn’t pay. So I paid and then BOOM! He didn’t show up at work and when I asked him, his answer was it is too cold to work at the property. He made excuses and excuses and he said he will only come back if the heater is fixed. I did and texted him and called him. NO RESPONSE. Besides, his quality of work is horrible. He and his crew painted all over, light fixtures, light bulbs, floors, even bathtub. What kind of painter paint over the tub?! They simply didn’t even covered the parts not supposed to paint but they were so lazy and sloppy worker. They installed the brand new room doors, two out of three, didn’t even close properly and didn’t even use the shim. Installing the door is one of the basic carpentry job and he can’t even do that! I asked for the breakdown of the work and cost and no answer. When I confronted him for a few stuff, he just blah blah blah and repeating himself by making endless nonsense and not doing the job at all. Even if he does a job, not a good quality one."

"TSC contracting met or exceeded our expectations in nearly all categories. Professional and fair proposal with appropriate detail, followed by predictable and high quality results. In our beach condo, the team did a complete remodel of our kitchen, living, dining and laundry area.Throughout the process, Ellen communicated with us daily about what was being completed and sent pictures to show us the progress of the work being done. If I had any questions or concerns about what was being done, I received an answer immediately. Tim had many suggestions and ideas to help our beach condo become the dream and vision we had a reality. Multiple times Ellen and Tim shared with us that they will do anything they can to make our place exactly the way we want it. Once the project was completed, Ellen and Tim gave us time to complete a punch list of things that we may have not been happy with or wanted them to go back over again. That listed was completed with no questions asked and completed within a day! I highly recommend TSC contracting if you are considering to have any remodeling completed."

FAQs for shower installation and replacement projects in Ocean View, DE

Replacing your tub with a shower can modernize your bathroom and improve accessibility, often providing a high return on investment. However, if it's the only bathtub in your home, removing it may decrease resale value, as many buyers look for at least one bathtub. Consider your long-term plans and consult a real estate professional if resale value is a concern.

While showers cost slightly more to install than tubs, the overall expense depends on various factors such as materials, size, and features. A tub installation costs $2,400 to $8,800 on average, whereas showers average $2,000 to $9,400. Custom designs, luxury fixtures, or extensive plumbing work can increase costs for both options. It's important to assess your specific needs and budget when deciding between installing a shower or a tub.

Converting a tub to a shower generally takes between one and three days. The timeline depends on the complexity of the project, materials chosen, and whether plumbing modifications are necessary. Installing a standard prefabricated shower can be completed quickly, while custom tile work or extensive plumbing changes may extend the project's duration. Planning accordingly can help minimize disruptions during the conversion.

Converting a tub to a shower offers several benefits, including saving space and making your bathroom feel more open and modern. Showers improve accessibility, especially for those with mobility challenges, by eliminating the need to step over a high tub wall. Additionally, updating to a stylish shower can enhance your bathroom's aesthetic appeal and may increase your home's resale value if another tub is available elsewhere in the house.

Choosing between a shower stall and a custom shower depends on your budget and preferences. Prefabricated stalls are less expensive and faster to install but offer limited styles. Custom showers allow personalization of size, materials, and features but cost more and require professional installation. Evaluate your needs and budget to select the best option for your space.

If you’re converting a tub to a shower, you may want to consider remodeling your whole bathroom. The ROI on bathroom remodels is high (over 70%), so you can enjoy an upgraded bathroom while you live in your home and get your money back if you decide to sell later. The average cost to remodel a bathroom is around $6,600 to $16,600, so factor in this price range when you’re budgeting for your project.

Converting a tub to a shower alone isn't easy to DIY, so look for a bathroom remodeler near you if you decide to take on a larger bathroom remodel to ensure it's done correctly.
