"I was very appreciative of the quick work they did on removing asbestos tiles off my roof. They were in and out very quickly and I'm grateful that I didn't have to worry about them causing my family or neighbors harm. As we will need to remove more asbestos in my home in the future, I'm certain that I would hire them for my future projects."

"I wanted some ceiling tiles tested for asbestos prior to removing them for a basement remodel. A-1 contacted me quickly to set up the appointment. They are friendly, clean, and knowledgeable. Several areas of my home were checked for asbestos, but did not contain any. I didn t need to hire A-1, however i absolutely would should the need arise."

"This was a difficult project, for my sisters home caught fire and was a total loss and she wasn't able to get out. With all the stress of dealing with everything, for she was single, the responsibility was left to us siblings. With never dealing with anything like this before, we had no idea where to start. I found Asbestos Abatement Services on the internet and called them, and how grateful I am I did, Kim answered and as we talked. She had a answer and an example for every question, very reassuring and professional. We contracted with them to do a asbestos test, and that's when I met Steve, another wonderful person, very pleasant to work with. The test came back positive, and the insurance company had us get three bids for the abatement and demo, Asbestos Abatement Services got the contract. They acquired all the permits, scheduled the day and the time to start and they were completed in two days. We were very impressed, every dumpster had to be lined and sealed, they did an excellent job! I am very thankful for help that Kim gave us as a family, it was a big relief to have them assist us with this difficult time, she even made a special trip to one of our homes so we could sign the contract, thanks for going the extra mile Kim!"

"On Thanksgiving weekend, we had a pipe break in the ceiling of a bedroom in our newly remodeled basement.  The standing water in the bedroom was several inches deep and also seeped into the mechanical room and a bathroom.  The damage was enough for Cameron to have to remove materials down to the studs.  I had informed him that I wanted minimal impact of the clean up and restoration due to the fact that we had just lived through the dust and chaos of a remodel.  He and his crew carefully moved our furniture out of the room, put down plastic on all surfaces that the workers would be using, sealed the affected room with plastic and a zippered door and made every effort to contain the dust and debris.  It was probably the cleanest job I've ever experienced in the many construction projects we have undertaken!  Since it was right in the middle of the holiday season, he also did his very best at making sure the impact on our home and family was minimal.  He was extremely thorough and hard working.  He made sure the work was done quickly and done right.  He also referred us to a restoration company to do the construction and checked back to make sure we were completely satisfied even though his work on the project was complete.  We have experienced several floods and have done many construction and remodel projects through the years and our experience with Cameron was one of the most positive experiences we have had.  We highly recommend him and his company.

FAQs for asbestos testing projects in Ogden, UT

Asbestos appears as long, thin, or curled mineral fibers that are not visible to the naked eye under normal conditions. Homes constructed before 1989 are more likely to contain this material, so a professional inspection is essential. Because asbestos identification requires specialized techniques, having a certified inspector assess your property is the safest way to confirm its presence and protect your family’s health.

Free asbestos testing services do not exist. You can purchase testing kits online for $30 per unit, and these kits include lab fees, return shipping, consultation, sampling media, and the final results. The results from a kit are less detailed and accurate than those provided by a certified asbestos testing professional. Since collecting a sample exposes you to harmful fibers, hiring a professional is essential to ensure safety and accurate testing.

Receiving asbestos test results takes one to seven days, but different labs offer varying turnaround times. When expedited processing is arranged, the laboratory completes analysis within 24 hours; standard processing requires up to two weeks. Hiring a certified professional ensures that all samples are collected correctly and results are provided without delay, safeguarding your home throughout the process.

Home insurance doesn't often cover asbestos testing and removal. Many policies have a clause called a "pollution exclusion," which means they do not cover indoor pollutants like asbestos. However, your insurance company might cover something like asbestos siding removal costs if it is released due to things beyond your control, such as storm damage.

If a DIY project or accident in your home releases harmful fibers, you must pay for the test and removal.

Yes, you can legally inspect and remove asbestos in your house as long as it's a single-family home and not a multi-family unit. However, the EPA strongly recommends hiring an asbestos abatement pro since testing can be dangerous.

Pros have all the right tools and safety equipment, and you risk breathing in the fibers by taking samples yourself. They also know how to collect samples and safely dispose of materials properly.

Asbestos encapsulation is a process that seals asbestos-containing materials with a protective barrier to prevent the release of harmful fibers. It serves as an alternative to complete removal when full abatement is not necessary. Encapsulation costs between $2 and $6 per square foot, offering a cost-effective option that contains asbestos safely when applied by a certified professional.
