Customers say: True professional

"Had a door that didn't align with other cupboards. Worked on it for a month. Got it fixed. Couple of days later in the middle of the night, it fell off completely. FixForte was listed so I called them. Mark came out a couple of days later. Had it hung and aligned in about 45 minutes, which included a trip to Home Depot for parts. Very satisfied. Would recommend them and will call them anytime i need help."

BROWN'S INTERIORS INC

"I paid Brown's over $26k for a durable and easy to clean floor in my medical clinic. It could not be any LESS durable or any harder to clean. It has been a nightmare, in just a few weeks it has taken holes from women walking in high heels (they actually suggested we ask patients to remove their shoes! Can you imagine?), in months it has already worn out where our exam table wheels roll up and down, it is already wearing down where the door skirt brushes the surface, and it has hundreds of scratches from our cleaning teams lightweight vacuum head and mopping. We told them about our concerns after the install and they said we "need to maintain it better" and only used approved Forbo product (which we do). We kept pressing every month or so after and they did nothing but come look and said, to paraphrase, "yeah, it seems pretty easily damaged...not our problem." They said they would come repair the damage, but nothing has happened. Then, 8 months later, it took the threat of getting a lawyer involved just to get Brown's engaged. They made a minimum effort to get Forbo, the manufacturer, to honor a replacement warranty, which Forbo of course skirted. When asked if they could press Forbo harder they told me I'd have to do it myself. I just got off the phone with the Forbo rep and he was appalled he had not been contacted earlier. He said he was just recently contacted. He was more than willing to dig deeper and was very concerned by the unusual fragility of the floor. He recommended I get an independant installer to come take a look. I'll will update with the verdict on that. The bottom line is that Brown's will not stand by their products, even if the floor is bubbling up on the edges and widening at the seams, they will blame anyone but themselves. Getting any support from them is like pulling teeth. There are many great installers that will stand by the durability of their products, Brown's is not one of them. Do yourself a favor skip right over this business. They will take your money and run. Photo 1: this is the wear and tear of a smooth wheel rolling over the "durable" flooring. Photo 2: This is where a dolly, loaded with about 30 pounds was rotated 180 degrees and sheared the layers of the "durable" flooring. Photo 3: This deep scratch in the "durable" flooring was caused by a plastic vacuum head, the kind almost every janitor uses."

FAQs for blinds or shades repair projects in Olympia, WA

If you're wondering whether repairing your blinds is worth it, consider the quality and age of your blinds. For high-end or custom blinds, repairing them can preserve their quality, functionality, and design, making repair a smart choice. Immediate repairs maintain the original look and performance. However, if your blinds are over six years old, extensively damaged, or of lower quality, replacing them might be more cost-effective, as new blinds offer better efficiency and modern technology. Weigh the repair costs against the benefits of replacement to make the best decision for your situation.

When damage undermines the integrity and appearance of your blinds, replacement becomes the clear option. You should replace your blinds when damage to slats or fabric prevents you from obtaining an exact match, thereby compromising appearance and function. Severe damage increases repair complexity and expense. Replacing blinds not only restores superior performance but also creates an opportunity for aesthetic upgrades and lasting benefits.

You should plan to replace your blinds at least every 10 years, with clear signs of wear, such as discoloration, deterioration, or functional issues, emerging by five years. Regular evaluation of style, quality, and performance supports an informed decision. While minor repairs may temporarily extend usability, a complete replacement secures optimal operation and updated design.

Establish a regular maintenance routine to keep your blinds looking and functioning their best. Clean them regularly with mild, specialized products and follow the manufacturer's recommended usage guidelines. UV-blocking window film can protect against fading and warping from sun exposure. Regular inspections and proactive maintenance will preserve their appearance and performance, extending their overall lifespan.

If you pull the blind string and it does not move, it indicates a malfunction in the mechanism, such as a broken cord, a jammed cord lock, or a stuck component. Inspect the string for breaks and examine the headrail for any obstructions. Replace the defective cord or cord lock as necessary to restore proper operation and maintain functionality.

Yes, you can replace your blind string yourself by using a replacement kit available at home improvement stores. Accurate measurement of the string diameter is essential for a perfect fit. Gather the necessary tools and follow the manufacturer’s instructions rigorously to secure a safe, lasting fix. If the task demands more time than anticipated, hiring a professional is advisable to avoid further damage.
