"The Golden Rule Plumbing team made this transaction a pleasure from start to finish. I called for an estimate to replace our 20-year-old 80-gallon water heater with a 40-gallon one. Bob said that the 50-gallon model was actually cheaper than the 40-gallon one, so I went with that. He said it would be about $925, depending on the installation. I told him it would be a tight fit to get the old one out of the tiny utility closet, and sent photos, and he sent Tim over a couple hours later to take a look and take measurements. Tim said it would just fit, but he'd probably need to install a new shut-off valve and a junction box on the wall, since the electrical wire would not reach down to the new, shorter unit. But, he said, the job would still not be more than $1,000. That sounded great to me, and a couple days later, the team arrived to do the work. (Their arrival was delayed 45 minutes by another job, but Tim called to let me know, which I appreciated). The work was tricky, as anticipated. I didn't realize that the new unit, although shorter, was actually fatter than the old one, so they had to disconnect some tubing on the heat pump to squeeze it past. But it was done, and installed very neatly, and I really appreciated how tidy they were. The team cleaned the floor before leaving, and removed their shoes when they had to walk on the carpet. Before leaving, Tim cheerfully answered several questions I had about water-heater maintenance. (Did you know that when you shut your water off you should also shut off the power to the water heater? I didn't.) Final bill was $975.
This team also did several small plumbing jobs for me a couple years ago, and the experience was just as good. Excellent work, reasonable price, and a cheerful, friendly, helpful attitude.

"We've used Russo Plumbing for a handful of jobs around the house. The first was to replace a garbage disposal. The price was competitive and the job was done to our satisfaction. So when our first floor bathroom toilet began leaking into the basement, we called them out. They had to do a pretty extensive repair/replacement of a pipe to correct the problem. I was pleased with the price and the speed with which they completed the job. The most recent visit, however, left me disappointed. My wife had called them out to take a look at our master shower and toilet, both of which were leaking. The shower down onto the ceiling on the lower level, and the toilet from an unknown location that just left a puddle on the floor. They were pretty responsive and came out to the house in a timely manner. The toilet needed tightening, but wouldn't require the seal to be replaced or anything else complicated. The shower, thankfully, appeared to only need a gasket replaced. They did not have the part and weren't able to locate one at the local home improvement store, so they told my wife they would have to order the part and would contact her once it was in to schedule a time to come back and install it. She asked what it would cost to come back and replace the part and was told that we'd be charged again for a house call. It would seem to me that they would be coming back to finish a job, so I'm not sure why we'd be charged for another house call. Had the part been available the same day, we would only have incurred any additional labor I would think. So we paid roughly $150 to tighten a toilet (which I'm ok with) and then it would be another roughly $150 to finish the job and install a gasket that couldn't be more than $10. Not only that, but it's 4 weeks later, and we still haven't gotten a call back about the part being in. We've since called another plumber to come look at the issue that wouldn't charge us to come out to the house and provide an estimate before any work is done. Given all the positive reviews and our first couple of experiences with them, I'm sure this was just a miss on their part, but I don't think we will hire them again."
