"Snagged the Angie’s List deal for a $35 garage door tune up. Called A1 the next morning and was scheduled for 2 days later. The appointment window was 1:00-6:00, which I thought was excessive, but was told the tech would call when he was on his way. Jayson called about 11:45 and asked if he could come in 25-30 minutes. He arrived about 12:15. Right after he called, I received a text with a link that allowed me to track his progress - no guessing. Jayson’s work was excellent. He explained that my door was old (in fact, 12 years old) and the spring and cables would need replacing in the not too distant future, but they were fine now. No attempt to sell me something I didn’t need. I knew the rollers were on their last legs and we agreed to replace them. So I got the tune-up and roller replacement for what I thought was a very fair price. I will definitely be using A1 in the future."

"Responded within 15 min of their name coming up for me on Angie’s List. Arrived on time and completed work in a very timely manner. Cody walked me through adding the app to my phone and syncing the remotes, app., and door openers."

"Great! The owner came out soon after our call, installed the opener and set up a yearly maintenance schedule. He also pointed out a crack in the garage door that will need to be dealt with in the future. Price was maybe a little high but the motor is working quietly. Overall a very good experience."

"I ordered a garage door in May of 2015 submitting half down. Steve, the manager, was both knowledgeable and pleasant, important attributes when making an expensive purchase. He noted that both the garage and the room above it would be much warmer with an R19 door. I had hoped to order a Liftmaster belt system opener, but the manager noted he had difficulty in securing those from his supplier and recommended a Linear. However, Consumer Reports and my husband, a mechanic, both recommended a Liftmaster system because it is quieter and can be connected to your smart phone.

Paul installed the beautiful, new garage door, but there were gaps on both sides of the door where bugs or wind could enter. Paul attempted, but was not successful in installing the new opener because the rail was too long. I was worried about the old Genie system being able to lift the new door, but Paul thought it would be okay.

I called Steve and he very cordially drove over the next day to fill the gaps.

Steve was correct. The garage is much warmer as is the room above it. My purchase was a wise investment that added curb appeal. The window design adds much needed light in the garage when working on projects.

Unfortunately, the old Genie system broke in December. See my other review for the rest of the story.

Recommendations:

1. Keep Liftmaster in stock.

2. Match Home Depot prices. Home Depot's installers are from Payson.

I try to buy local to support my city's businessmen.

3. Train Paul in how to install and adjust garage door openers."

"Our warranty is through Landmark Home Warranty and they have been difficult. It’s not that they are bad home warranty thing, it just that they did something and the communication was incredible poor. They gave us their market value, they gave us everything. We had a microwave that died on us and they gave us all that. It’s just that microwave died three weeks ago and we just got information that they were going to replace it but they said we needed to pay our deductible when we had paid our deductible, but the people who had come out and was servicing it did not turn the deductible into them. They weren’t going to do anything until they got that deductible when they came after us saying you haven’t paid it and you are not getting anything until we get paid when we had. It’s not that they have been nasty or anything like that, it’s just a little poor communication. They have done everything they said they were going to do and they are very pleasant however their communication and time lapse misinformation has been kinda. The warranty service is $70 for when you have a call out. It’s $550 a year, but, of course, the first year has been paid for by the seller so that’s my problem. We looked and that’s average of what they are all are and we went ahead and dealt with them. They have been pretty good but they have been difficult to get the two companies coordinating. They got lucky, they went ahead, I understand this, when they go to give you an appliance it comparable to what you got. They go as low wall as possible because they are not going to give you anything other than the absolute basic equivalent of what you had. They got lucky because that basic one happens to be top rated as far as consumer rated went. So all was well in the end and everything is turning out fine. Had it been something in bigger deal in another type of situation lowballing your replacement value give you much inferior quality."

FAQs for garage door installation and replacement projects in Patagonia, AZ

Yes, you can replace just one panel if your door is sectional and the damaged panel is available. Most modern residential garage doors have four to six horizontal panels that can be individually replaced. However, finding an exact match becomes challenging for older doors or discontinued styles. For doors over 15 to 20 years old or with multiple damaged panels, a complete door replacement might be more practical and visually consistent.

Minor dents or cosmetic damage can often be repaired without replacing the entire panel, potentially saving you money. However, if the damage affects the door's operation, security, or structural integrity, replacement is often a better investment.

For extensive damage to multiple panels or older doors where matching is difficult, full door replacement might be more economical in the long run than multiple individual panel replacements.

Your garage door panel might be repairable if the damage is superficial and doesn't affect functionality. Small dents in aluminum panels, minor scratches, or cosmetic issues often don't require full replacement. However, replacement is often necessary if the panel is warped, has large holes, shows extensive rust, or affects how the door operates. A professional garage door technician can evaluate the damage and recommend whether repair or replacement offers the best value and durability.
