"I can't say enough about the great people who worked on my basement: WES, the salesman was courteous, knowledgeable, and patient. He came on time, explained everything and also met with my handyman to go over the work he had to do to prepare the basement for Dry Pro to do its work. He met with my handyman not once, but twice because the handyman wanted to make sure he had done everything that was needed. Great guy! Oscar, the crew leader, kept me informed as to what was going on and alerting me when he was on his way and leaving. The crew was always on time and Oscar explained what they were doing and answered all my questions. He also worked diligently and adjusted the work as needed to make sure they did the job right with only what was really needed. Crew members Antonio, Daniel and Cameron reminded me of an army of Eveready Bunnies: once they arrived they started working and kept going, and going, and going! The whole crew worked very hard and considering the type of work, they left the area clean and in good order. They were careful to cover everything before starting the work so as to protect the few things I had in the basement (my basement is being remodeled). Overall, I was very pleasantly surprised by the professionalism everyone showed and will be recommending DryPro to anyone I hear needs basement water mitigation work done."

"David did a wonderful job at our home. He painted two rooms and finished a ceiling. He also did several handyman jobs for us: sealed windows and doors, weather stripping, carpentry, fixed/sanded/stained our front door, cleaned out the dryer vent, repaired our deck, etc. He did a great job with everything. The painting was flawless. David was very responsive, honest, great to work with, and punctual. He charged a reasonable price for his services and took pride in his work. I would definitely hire him again and have recommended him to friends and family."

"Will definitely hire him here again to do more projects. Friendly, polite, showed up on time. Did a great job. We Haven't done much work before now so don't know what people typically charge for handyman services. He was here for almost 2 full days (took a lunch break) and his costs included the paint, caulk and any supplies he needed (except for lights that I bought). So I didn't think he was wonderfully cheap or overly expensive. I think we got good service and quality job and paid accordingly.

"Excellent in every way. The project was the finishing of our basement of over 2,500 square feet including a kitchen, bathroom, laundry room, bedroom, living room, recreation/TV area plus a couple storage areas. All quality work from the start. I submitted my design sketch and requirements to Blake and he gave me a quote in 24 hours over the weekend. Blake and Mark helped refine the design which was a bit challenging with the support poles to work around. We are extremely pleased with the final layout. Mark performed the framing and much of the detail work on site and is extremely neat and quality conscious, making sure the HVAC, electrician, plumber and other subs do things exactly right. The basement was kept clean and orderly throughout the project with trash taken away frequently by cans. No dumpster in the driveway which was great. Mark was good at explaining things and answering my wife's questions. Mark was very helpful as the project was being completed to make sure that the closet shelves and the TV mounting support were all perfectly done . Great attention to details. When Mark was finished we could not believe how clean and neat everything was. We had expected to need to have a cleaning service come in after the basement was complete but it was immaculate. Mark worked til about 9 pm on a Friday night to get everything just right and we moved things down Saturday morning. A great experience. Project was completed a couple months ago and we love it.....no issues or concerns at all. I highly recommend Blake and Mark and would definitely use them again."

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Paw Creek, NC

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
