"I have an unusual situation in that my house was built in 1882, and the main drain for the house is in the cellar beneath a trap door and down a narrow set of steps. <br /> This prevented most companies from doing the job because their machine was too big and too heavy. The Roto Rooter machine could be taken apart into two pieces and put back together in the cellar. Their machine has an 11/16 cable, large enough for main drains.  <br /> Roto Rooter did a very thorough job going about 130 feet or more to the street, and the hourly cost was comparable to low cost companies. <br /> Because they have a special machine that can be taken apart into two pieces and put back together relatively quickly I will only call Roto Rooter in the future.  <br />"

FAQs for water heater repair or service projects in Pisgah, IA

Warning signs include fluctuating water temperatures, a pilot light that repeatedly goes out, unusual noises from the tank, or complete heating failure. You might also detect a rotten egg smell, indicating a potential gas leak, or notice water that never reaches the proper temperature. If your water heater is over eight years old and displaying these symptoms, the gas valve is a likely culprit. Professional inspection is recommended, especially if gas odors are present.

Water heater gas valves are not universally interchangeable. Each valve must match your specific water heater's make, model, and specifications. Important compatibility factors include gas type (natural gas vs. propane), BTU rating, connection types, and physical dimensions. Using an incorrect valve can result in poor performance, premature failure, or dangerous gas leaks. Always consult your water heater's documentation or a professional plumber to identify the appropriate replacement valve for your unit.
