"Austin Wells & Peter Dang were professional, informative and very hard working. Their attention to detail was fantastic! There was a wait to get the work done as there are not many companies in our area that can provide this service. The foundation is raised and we no longer have a gap that was creating moisture."

"Good people to work with, professional in every way. Normally when we received 2" of rain water would start entering the basement. When we receive 3" the basement floor would be covered. Two days after installing their system our area received 8.5" of rain and our basement remained dry, not a drop got in the house. These guys know what they are doing."

"From beginning to end, VRN Masonry was a pleasure to work with! Rui was quick to respond when setting up our estimate meeting and this continued throughout the project. Work began earlier than expected which was much appreciated. Unfortunately, the weather did not want to cooperate for several weeks which delayed the project but Rui gave us updates for when him and his team could come by to work. Near the end of the project, they even came out on a Sunday to avoid more bad weather that was predicted for the week. Everything is complete now and we could not be happier! VRN Masonry did a fantastic job and I greatly appreciated his responsiveness and receptiveness."

"They gave us an estimate on 03/22 and we agreed on 04/04.  They started work on 04/11, with the removal of the existing brick patio and the flower garden,  They poured a concrete base, bringing both these areas to the same height as the sidewalk.  They then built a dry-stack stone enclosure on the front and side of our porch, and installed the square cut flagstone cap on the entire area.  Finally, they built an area of concrete, about four inches wide, to transition from the driveway to the new flagstone area.  This was done in about four days of work, including one day when they had to build a tent-like structure over the work site to shield them from the rain,  The entire crew was courteous, neat, and professional.  We would recommend their service to anyone."

"The company was responsive - gave me a same-week appointment.  Adolfo came to my house, assessed the work to be done, and quoted me a fair price.  He did the work right at that time.  The job was done well - it looks professional and neat.   He even colored the concrete so the patches would better match the existing concrete.  I am pleased with the work.

"I have three houses… that’s the good news. The bad news is that each of them required basement waterproofing, one in 2013, one in 2016 and finally one in 2019. Carlos Hernando personally did the work once and his crew did the work on the other two under his direction and supervision. I have now known and dealt with Carlos Hernando for a decade and he is a man of his word. He delivered quality results and he ensured that his crew took great care of my properties during a very difficult waterproofing repair. To make matters worse on two of the jobs I had tenants in place that I did not want to lose so the work had to be done correctly the first time because not only was Carlos’ reputation on the line, so was mine. The waterproofing repair was accomplished on time, with great care and to a very high standard. The crew completely cleaned up behind themselves and to this day my three properties remain dry! If I ever need basement waterproofing again… I’m only making one call."

"Val was prompt and came to my house to provide an estimate. He came again to review the site of the work prior to it being done and he was quite polite. The original cost estimate was $3450.00 and when I asked about discounts for Angie's customers, he indicated that he was giving me the best price. I had gotten estimates with other contractors and his was the most expensive. The others were not that much cheaper, but, because he was prompt, professional, responsive, and the reviews were good, I went with him. Unfortunately, the quality of the work was sloppy at best. He said it would take them 2 days to finish the job and it did. I was out of town while they were working and when I returned, my yard was a mess. I was told that the concrete truck would come up the driveway, but whatever equipment was used, was also driven through my front yard. I had asked Val what I needed to do to help prepare for the work, and other than moving the outdoor lights, he said nothing. To my dismay, my azaleas, my hostas, and my herb garden were damaged during the process. If I had known that these plants would have been a problem, I would have removed them myself and covered my herb garden. The workers did re-seed the yard and put hay over the damaged areas, but they did not fill in the dirt where the vehicle was driven across my yard and they put the seeds on top of the soil where the concrete dust was. Of course, concrete damages the soil and there is no way that the grass was going to grow well in the damaged areas. When I complained to Val about this, he did send the workers back out to redo the front yard. They came back within 2 days. So, I did appreciate his responsiveness. But the bigger problem is that my stairs are not even. The base and stairs are slanted to the right, the stairs are not evenly spaced, and the craftsmanship is very poor. None of the edges or corners are straight. Its just sloppy. I just don't understand. When I brought this to Val's attention he indicated that the concrete was drying fast and that they did the best that they could. Well, anyone who is a professional at mixing and pouring concrete should know how to do this and make sure that the stairs are even. You should also know which type of concrete to use for the job and that concrete that dries too fast for such a large pour is probably not the best option. Either way, they are the experts and should know. I asked that he take some money off, so we agreed that the price should be reduced by $500.00. I could have asked that they start over, but I dont have the confidence that they would do it right the second time. I am going to have to get someone to come lay flagstone or some other stone to even out the stairs and level them. Even from the street, you can see how uneven everything is. I am quite disappointed and will never work with this contractor again. Perhaps they are good at patios, but they are not good at pouring concrete."

FAQs for concrete foundation raise projects in Point Of Rocks, MD

On average, it takes two to seven days to physically raise your house. However, this does not include the preparation work, which is often the most lengthy process. The entire project, including preparation, obtaining permits, disconnecting utilities, and any subsequent landscaping, can take four to eight weeks. This timeline ensures everything is done safely and that your home remains structurally sound.

If proper safety protocols are not followed, raising a house can cause severe damage, as the process involves applying controlled force to the home's structure. The risks involved make it crucial to hire a skilled contractor who uses engineered methods to secure your home and prevent any harm to your household.

If your foundation shows signs of instability after raising your home, you might need to add structural support. A structural engineer can assess your foundation and recommend reinforcements to ensure your house stays stable and safe for the long term. Available support options include installing additional piers or pilings, reinforcing existing footings, or using steel beams to distribute the load more evenly.

You will need a structural engineer to assess your home before you begin. These professionals determine whether your house is suitable for lifting and identify any issues that could compromise its stability. Their expertise ensures that the project is designed correctly and all risks are managed to achieve a successful lift.
