"Okay. Howard had some difficulty reading the plan, and requested a week to do the work. We only had three or four days, so his manager said that could only happen if I helped with the work. No problem, I did the layout, and did most of the "tricky" parts of the work, cutting the ribbon boards for the 45 degree angles, so Howard and helper could focus on setting cleats, joists, and putting down decking. Howard was very prompt, but this sort of carpentry was not his forte, some of the decking cuts needed to be redone. I had to do all the railing work myself. He did help me with some plumbing work for the better part of one day, which is work he is better at. We settled on payment of about 2/3 of what his original quote was for the deck, and he showed no interest in doing any further work."

"AHS is ok. They cover repairs of most everything under the roof of your house. The companies that contract with them are not always the best. You call AHS with the issue, they send a fax to the repair company and give you the contact info. If they don't contact you within 24 hours, you call them. Sometimes they answer, sometimes they don't. When they arrive (usually three days or so later), they service the item. if it has issues within the 90 days, you call AHS again, they are sent out with no charge. If the serviceman decides the unit is unrepairable, AHS will allow you to choose a replacement from their listing (usually not as good as what you have) they will install and remove your old item, or give you wholesale amount to buy and install your own. Prices vary on what you want covered and what you want the copay to be, plus where you live. For me it is 49.99 per month with a 75.00 time of service order. You can have more than one item serviced at the same time under the same fee. If you have a SEAR product the repair guys are great. Not that wild about the other ones they send out. But it is a big savings compared to calling someone on your own. The cost of service is only the 75.00 copay."

"Since this was a big and potentially costly job I contacted three contractors for pricing. Pete patiently and quickly responded to all my questions to make sure I fully understood his bid. After evaluating the three qualified contractors I selected Supreme Electric who had submitted a very competitive bid. Contractor arrived as promised with all tools, equipment, and supplies needed to get started. Pete and Andy worked smoothly together; the best father/son team I've ever seen. Cleanup after each day's work was excellent, often leaving the area cleaner than when they started. Work proceeded daily until the job was done. Final electrical inspection went without a hitch. In addition to correcting each fixture connection contractor provided all new fixtures, brought all wiring up to code, updated the main service panel, installed a couple of new lights for me, and replaced 21 florescent strip lights with new, owner supplied, T8 energy efficient fixtures. During the installation the old aluminum wiring connecting the various strips of lights was replaced with copper wiring. I couldn't be more pleased with how the work went, the end result, and working with the contractor, Pete Gill.
