"Air Masters designed a Mitsubishi mini-split system to replace a failed hot air system. The price of the system we wanted was pretty steep, but in line with other estimates. So we asked them if we could split the project into three phases: heat the main living area; add a zone for bed rooms; add a zone to heat garage (workshop) and guest room. They agreed and provided a reasonable estimate for the work, so we went with them. First phase was great. Work was done promptly and the system worked well. Second phase also went off reasonably well, although the craftsmanship on the install wasn't up to standard and there were some communication issues with the required surge suppressor. But in the end it all worked out. When the time came to do the third phase, everything fell apart. When the estimator came out to plan the work and give us the price we were told that the plan would not work because the outside unit did not have the capacity to support the inside unit for the third phase - even though nothing had changed in the plan. The same rooms were being heated - but now the system that they designed for precisely this application would not work. I think the problem may have been that Air Masters did not really understand the equipment that they were installing and the project manager had quoted and/or ordered the wrong outside unit. I can understand that. What I can't understand is their failure to stand behind their work or really to even look for a solution. The estimator who came out stopped responding to calls and the company owner did not respond to e-mails or phone calls. So in the end it was not even possible to discuss options with them. We are now in the market for a mini-split system for a rental property and Air Masters will not be on the list of contractors that we call for estimates."

"The install team was quick and efficient. It took them about 4.5 hours, start to finish, which was far quicker than I thought it would take. They left the area clean and the install looks very professional. Unit works great; it was 90 degrees the day after the install and the unit did its job and kept the house cool."

FAQs for central humidifier installation and replacement projects in Port Orchard, WA

A crawl space dehumidifier is a worthwhile investment, particularly in humid climates or if you've noticed musty odors, mold growth, or wood deterioration. Though costs range from $3,000 to $9,200, this investment helps prevent structural damage that could require far more expensive repairs later. Beyond structural protection, a properly dehumidified crawl space contributes to better overall indoor air quality and may reduce allergens throughout your home. Consider having a professional assessment to determine if your specific situation warrants this investment.

Addressing crawl space moisture effectively often requires a combination of solutions. A complete approach includes encapsulation plus dehumidifier installation. For minor moisture issues, a basic dehumidifier starting at $1,500 may suffice, while severe problems in larger spaces could require systems costing up to $14,000. The most effective moisture control strategy depends on your specific conditions, making a professional assessment valuable for determining the most cost-effective approach for your situation.

For a crawl space measuring 1,500 square feet, you'll need a dehumidifier with a daily capacity of 30 to 50 pints, with unit costs ranging from $150 to $600. Your local climate and existing moisture levels may necessitate adjusting this capacity—homes in particularly humid regions might benefit from higher-capacity units. Professional installers can measure your specific humidity conditions and recommend equipment that is appropriately sized, balancing initial cost with operating efficiency for your unique situation.

Crawl space dehumidifiers add $300 to $500 to your annual electricity expenses when operating continuously. Energy-efficient models reduce this consumption by roughly 15 to 30% compared to standard units. Most contemporary dehumidifiers feature humidity sensors that automatically cycle operation based on current conditions, helping manage energy usage. Proper crawl space encapsulation significantly improves efficiency by creating a controlled environment that requires less dehumidifier runtime, thereby reducing ongoing electricity costs.
