Customers say: True professional

"I cannot say enough about what a pleasure it was to work with Andy and how thrilled I am with the finished result in my kitchen. I collected a number of recommendations from friends for other contractors, whom I met with - but, I am so glad I went with Andy. From the start, his communication was exceptional. He gave me a very realistic (and ultimately accurate) timeline and I always knew exactly who was going to be working in my house on what days. No surprises what-so-ever, and when there were some minor unexpected plumbing issues once he opened the walls, Andy set up a time to discuss options with me and presented me with multiple solutions depending on my preferences and budget. There are SO many decision to be made for a large project like this, and as a first time homeowner, I was a bit overwhelmed at first - but Andy did an incredible job guiding me to quality suppliers for materials and helping me through the process all along the way. I never hesitated to ask if I had a question and Andy always took the time to respond and explain things in a way I could understand. Andy did a lot of the work himself, but his sub-contractors were also superb. Despite the fact that my kitchen was completely torn up, the house stayed surprisingly clean, they always left the site in great condition at the end of the day and were very respectful of my time and space. Even though the job was completed a few months ago, Andy has stayed available to me as I have had one or two silly little questions come up - he's been quick to respond and make sure I am satisfied and have the information I need. Andy's pricing and estimate upfront was clear and straight-forward and again, no surprises or anything questionable on that. Very fair cost for the quality of work and professionalism. I will be doing additional work (bathroom remodeling) in the next few years and would not go with anyone else besides Andy & Scott's Home Renewal. Photos are taken from different angles - but it is the same kitchen :)"

"Mid States Carpenters Group Corporation provided us with a beautiful exterior front entrance to our home in the Spring of 2024. The owner, Judd Penny, assisted in getting all the necessary city approvals to meet code and my husband's design sketch, which helped us tremendously."

"Great ! Owner Tim came out and did an emergency tarp -- in the rain, as my BR ceiling was leaking. Jan ( office manager ) worked with my insurance until the bid & repairs were enough to give me a great outcome. Their repair guy was professional, friendly and did a good job. I would not hesitate to use them again & to recommend them !"

"Jack was prompt, very polite and professional. Trevor helped with the plumbing etc, and the two of them worked very long and hard - for hours - with very few breaks! He ran into a few unexpected problems and the job took 2 or 3 days longer than expected, but he kept us well informed and remained positive, working long hours to make sure everything turned out right. <br /> We were very pleased with his workmanship and the end result. We would hire Jack again and highly recommend Premier Renovations. <br /> <br /> <br />"

"At first we thought there was a leak in the foundation requiring basement water proofing. It turned out that there was a pipe leaking behind the wall in a basement room. After doing demolition on the first day of work, air scrubbers and dehumidifiers were setup in the basement and main floor to contain any airborne mold and dry out the damaged area. Those were left in place for a week. A mold abatement substance was also applied to the problem areas at the same time. <br /> The leak had caused the sub-flooring in the affected room to rot and disintegrate. It was also discovered after pulling up the carpet that the builder had used a sub-standard sub-flooring material (MDF) in the entire basement. We decided it was best to completely replace it all since there were other affected areas of rotted sub-flooring in the basement. <br /> I later added a long list of other repairs to the contract to replace screen doors and a few other things around the house and garage.  <br /> Gene Maire was great to work with and was patient with all the additional things I added to the list of repairs in my home. The work was complete way before my expectations, 2 months from first estimate, and was of good quality. They left the site clean. Each time I added something new to the repair list, he was very prompt with sending a revised and reasonable estimate for the work. <br /> I would highly recommend Iowa Home Restoration and Repair, Gene and his crew to anyone needing any kind of repairs on their home but especially if you have a basement water proofing issue in your home. Gene was honest in his assessment of the problems, kept me up to date and sent pictures of newly found issues.  He was professional to work with. He instilled a sense of trust when I first met with him which is why I chose his company over a cheaper competitor."

"Great experience and very happy with the finished product. I hired Shawn at Heuss Construction to finish my basement. I had heard good things based of his roofing jobs and knew that he also did a lot of remodels. He came in and gave me an estimate, explained what all needed done, and completed the project faster than promised. I was very happy with ALL the work done and would definitely recommend him and his company for any home improvements or remodels."

"Removed old fixtures in approx. half a day. When installing new vanity and sink had problems with trying to use old p-trap. Finally purchased new pvc p-trap. Discovered clogged drain and broken drain pipe for sink and had to call in plumber. Plumber (Scott) arrived within the hour and repaired the leak. Blake repaired the drywall without extra charge. New faucet was defective so that had to be replaced. Vinyl flooring was a couple of days late arriving but Blake and Tony were very accomodating. For re-install they started at 10:00am on Wednesday and finished at 12:30pm on Friday even with the unexpected plumbing problems. Blake got the job done and it looks very nice."

FAQs for major home repair (general contractor) projects in Prairie City, IA

In many cases, it’s much less expensive to convert a bus than to buy an RV, especially if you’re considering a newer RV model, which can exceed $100,000.

Another huge benefit of school bus conversion is that you are in control of the renovation project. You get to pick your camper's new layout and all the appliances and furniture.

While school buses can easily cost $300,000 when they're new, you can often find used buses for just a few thousand dollars. These vehicles experience extreme depreciation due to government regulations; they can only be used for so long before they must be replaced. Due to those same regulations, other government agencies cannot purchase them for their own uses, so the consumer market is the only place they can go.

The length of time it takes to convert a bus depends on the scope of the project (and size of the bus), how much work is DIY vs. done by a professional contractor, and how much work you’re doing up front.

In general, expect at least a couple of months for a conversion, but larger conversions could take six months to a year. Remember: You can tackle projects as you go: Get the basic work done so that it’s livable, and then continue to enhance your living space over time.
