"The check out went really well - Jake called 30 minutes prior to arrival and showed within the 3 hour window that was scheduled. He did a great job ensuring my furnace was running well and noticed the capacitor was running below factory specifications. He replaced it quickly and the whole appointment was complete in about 40 minutes. My issue was when I looked at the actual price of the capacitor I realized I was charged approximately 500% above retail. I both e-mailed and called the company to ask about this large mark-up but received no reply as of 1/5/18. Overall the service call was a good value and Jake was very professional, but I would not use again based on the extreme difference between the price of materials and the price charged."

"Because it was a Sunday, their offices were actually closed, but an answering service took our information and a Tech contacted us quickly. My husband explained what was going on. The Tech said he would be happy to come out, but given the description of what was going on, did not have the parts necessary to work on furnace in his truck. He suggested we have someone come out the following day. This made sense and we appreciated his candor. This morning, we received a call before 8 a.m. They said we would have a Tech at the house between 12 & 2. We gave them a cell # and we both went off to work. At 10:30 I received a call from Chad. He was already at the house. I left work and met him at the house. Chad turn the furnace back on from the thermostat before going to the basement. The blower started working again. He tested for carbon dioxide. He looked over the unit and gave me his assessment. I felt it was an honest assessment of the situation. The furnace is currently working, but we have decisions to make as to whether to begin repairs, or if it's time for full replacement. We were charged the normal charge for coming out. Chad was very professional and courteous. I was comfortable with this service and would not hesitate to recommend them to friends."

FAQs for window a/c unit service or relocation projects in Prospect, OH

If your window air conditioner is relatively new or of high quality, repairing it can restore optimal performance and protect your investment. However, for older units or those with ongoing issues, it might be more cost-effective to replace the unit to ensure long-term efficiency and reliability. Consider the unit's age, the severity of the problem, repair costs versus replacement, and energy efficiency ratings when making your decision. If repairs cost more than half the price of a new unit, replacement is typically the better option.

Window air conditioners last eight to ten years on average. After this time, you may notice decreased efficiency and component wear. Replacing an older unit can improve energy savings and provide updated features like remote controls and better overall performance. With proper maintenance including regular filter cleaning, coil checks, and professional servicing, you can maximize your unit's lifespan.

If your portable AC isn't cooling, it might have a refrigerant leak or a circuit malfunction that's preventing it from working properly. It's best to contact a local air conditioner contractor to inspect and repair the unit. If your AC is older and repairs don't fix the issue, replacing it might be the most effective solution.

Removing a wall-mounted AC costs $55 to $75. Completing the removal yourself at the end of each summer season, being sure to do so according to proper guidelines, keeps you within this cost range. Should you require professional assistance for removal and disposal, if you can't move the unit yourself, expect an added fee of $25 to $50 to the overall cost.
