After 5 years of self-administered staining and much mold on the deck and especially the railings, we were ready to let a pro handle the job. Our deck is large, multi-tiered and made of gorgeous mahogany, but that beautiful wood had gotten lost under the multiple layers of dark-colored stain I had applied over the years. Hectors crew came on time and the power-washing brought the original wood back to life. Hector then advised us to use a transparent stain so that the wood grain itself would shine through after staining. He was absolutely right. The staining happened a few days later and now deck looks like brand new. There were a few areas where the stain had run and discolored the white painted risers beneath the steps.
