"Overall we had a great experience with American Kitchen Concepts. We purchased an eighteen year old home that needed a little updating, particularly in the kitchen. We also wanted to continue the existing oak wood floors from the other rooms into the kitchen and family room (open kitchen concept). We decided the extensive flooring project should be done before moving in, so as soon as our offer was accepted and the home inspection was scheduled I contacted several companies that specialized in kitchen renovations to come out and give us a quote during the home inspection. Many of the contractors weren’t will to come out without us actually owning the home yet, but Dan Millard with American Kitchen Concepts was willing to meet with us. Dan was prompt and very accommodating during the home inspection. He was also easy going about the few other competitors that came out to give us similar quotes at the same time. What I enjoyed most about Dan in comparison to the other contractors was that he seemed trustworthy and willing to work with our budget to help us get what we wanted but could also afford. After we signed the contract with Dan he was great about assisting us with selecting our kitchen design. He wasn’t pushy or overbearing. He was helpful and gave suggestions when needed. The project did cost more than we originally expected, but this mostly due to the refinishing of the existing wood floors in the entire main level of the house so that the new wood floors in the family room and kitchen would match. And as far as timeline, the project stayed mostly on schedule. We had a one week delay at the start, but the project was completed before our official move in date. I’ve heard that delays with renovation projects are common, and that one week was minor compared to others experiences. I do think that our renovation was probably simpler than most. We didn’t reconfigure anything. Basically American Kitchen Concepts took out the outdated aspects of the kitchen and replaced them with a newer, updated look. Our renovation didn’t require moving any walls, or switching the plumbing around, or anything as complicated as that. We did have some changes to the electrical, but nothing too major. When I look at our new kitchen design I am really happy with the final product. Dan took the ideas that I suggested and made it a reality for us. We are more than satisfied with our kitchen remodel, and would recommend American Kitchen Concepts to others."

"Several years back, I called for help and we talked through my problem. We concluded that no water was leaving my house and it was backing up out of a pipe in the basement. In talking through our architecture and location, he determined this was most likely something that could be solved by Baltimore City services (for free). That turned out to be the case. The City workers came out fairly quickly, identified and cleared the clog outside my home, and I paid nothing (outside of my tax returns, of course ... "my tax dollars at work"). Knock You Out could have tried to make some money off of me by saying they needed to come out and look at it, then referring me to the City, and then charging me for their time/truck-roll (while prolonging the entire thing for me). Knock You Out is not cold and unscrupulous. By spending time with me on the phone, but doing no work here and making nothing from it, they proved themselves to be honest and decent people. And that may be the main thing we shop for in home services."

"Mr. Fama had not remembered or written down the appointment time and so came to my house before I got home. Once that was straightened out, he worked very hard to remove my old stubborn faucet and installed my new one. He made sure that it was installed correctly and there were no leaks."

"Todd was extremely responsive and called to schedule an in-home estimate the moment I clicked "request a quote" on the Angie's List site. He provided an estimate for both quartz and granite. I then went to their showroom to choose the quartz I wanted (and the sink and faucet) and to schedule the measuring. The laser measuring of my kitchen was very cool. Then the installation was scheduled--counters, sink, and faucet--and it all went very smoothly--even with a run to Home Depot by the plumber for a fitting. I really like that they contract the plumber and that all the installation is done in one day, so there's no down time in teh kitchen."

"Great. They came beforehand to make sure which size would be best to fit into a tight closet (the new heaters are slightly wider than the old) because this is a condo, this required a pan and an alarm in case of leakage. They also agreed to repair a faucet handle that I had been told was a huge job involving going through a wall- they found the proper replacement handle and did it efficiently and inexpensively without having to go through the wall!"

"Fidel is fantastic. He was able to match paint colors, suggested & used the right products to prevent the problem (mold from steamy bathrooms) and did a beautiful paint job. Treated, cleaned, painted in 2 days with 2 assistants. We ran into an unforseen obstacle, my bathroom fans were not hooked to vents. He gave me guidance on purchasing fans & brought his electrician in for correct installation. Because of an issue in my ceiling, we cannot vent through the walls as planned. He was going to use HVAC suggestions to vent through the roof, but he stopped & called some experts who told him that I could suffer leaks if I don't use a skilled roofer. We will have a roofer do the vents. Fidel only charged me for the work done. He'll come back to install fans after that."

"Plumber looked at our leaking faucet and suggested replacement, rather than repair. Both prices seemed excessive, but we had guests from overseas and needed the fix urgently. We opted for new one and paid almost 500$ (repair was over 250 if I remember). Job seemed like a very simple one, but you don't want to mess with water yourself. We did feel ripped off, On the other side - company was extremely responsive, punctual, and professional to deal with over the phone (we called Sunday night and scheduled repair for Monday morning to avoid weekend rates!) and when the technician came they gave us calls ahead of time and kept us updated."

"They came out shortly after we purchased the big deal. We had to pay extra. When he did it, it was fine. It was just we were a little annoyed about the price increase. They could have done better with the pricing. What happened was we bought the thing. He came out. We wanted him to replace something and he said that he couldn't feel it. He found the faucet and replaced that. The first time he came out, he didn't do anything. When he came back out the second time, we had to pay an additional $200 or something. That was where I got that you should have at least given us the same deal because they didn't do anything the first time. We paid another extra. Their quality was fine. Their punctuality was fine. Maybe I would use them but I had to make sure that they came just one time."
