"I had several places where drywall or plaster had to be patched. The handyman arrived on time and was very thorough. He was also pleasant to talk to. My only complaint was the price - it seemed high for this type of work."

"Juan, his son and the rest of the crew did a great job in repairing and installing a16 foot second wall with column to my patio. They also had to remove half of the pavers to re-level the patio and added pavers to fill-in the 3 feet of bed between the house and the patio on the left side of the steps. They were punctual and very professional. They laid down 4x8 plywood from my front driveway around the back of my house for heavier equipment to protect my grass. My wife and I could not be more pleased with the job that they did and plan to have them back next spring to add some lights to the other wall and columns as we really like the one's that they installed on the new wall."

"<p>The firm's president, Randy Alverson, arrived promptly, assessed our damp basement situation, and explained in great detail the various steps of the waterproofing process.  He answered all of my questions and was so professional and reassuring that I broke my usual rule of getting at least 3 proposals for any home project, and decided to hire Chamberlin-Washington immediately.  Of course, I had done my homework and read the firm's excellent reviews on numerous websites including Angle's List, which added to my confidence in my choice.  </p> <p>The Chamberlin-Washington crew was terrific and worked so hard under very chilly and damp conditions. They first removed all of the plants/shrubs from our front borders, carefully wrapping the roots in order to preserve them.   An 8 + -foot trench then had to be dug along the front of our house, to the bottom of the foundation, in order to begin the waterproofing process.  They worked very carefully, addressing one half of the foundation at a time (including under our front porch, which was undisturbed). The crew realized that our home's exterior foundation was very rough and uneven, which meant that it wouldn't be a receptive surface for the waterproofing membrane.  Mr. Alverson came back to our house to explain the additional steps that were needed to smooth the foundation out before the waterproof membrane could be applied: grind down the rough foundation, install stainless steel wall ties, install wood forms and pour a 4" thick concrete layer to even up and consolidate the foundation.  He made sure that we understood what was going to happen, and explained that though this was an unusual step to have to take, they had done it before for with some older homes such as ours (built circa 1925).  This extra step of preparation added an additional 50% to the original fee, but it had to be done. Once the waterproofing layer was finally in place, they tested it by spraying water onto the foundation for an hour, with one person carefully monitoring the process inside our basement to make sure that no water was leaking through.</p> <p>Ultimately, Chamberlin-Washington was able to thoroughly waterproof the front foundation of our home, and we have had no further water problems whatsoever.  We were extremely impressed with Mr. Alverson and his crew -- very professional, punctual and thorough.  I highly recommend this firm to anyone whose home needs similar waterproofing work.  I should also add that Chamberlin-Washington honored the 10% discount for Angie's List members -- a nice touch.</p> <br />"

"I had marked each wall with a "g" for green for the kitchen and a "y" for yellow for the living area.  The ceiling was going to be painted for both rooms as well as the powder room because of the ceiling repair.  The bathroom ceiling was also painted.  I was not there when the painting was done since I live 3 hours away, but did stop by for a few hours one day.  When I arrived I immediately noticed that the entry way had been painted green like the kitchen, I guess since the floor is the same as the kitchen.  Even though I will be repainting that a blue later, I didn't say anything since I hadn't been there.  There were some walls that were supposed to be yellow, but had been painted green which I did mention.  I think the "g" may have been interpreted as "gold" so I can see why there was a problem.  The correction was made without problems.  Work was going to continue so I never saw the end result until I returned several weeks later and had already paid in full. <br /> When I returned, I noticed that the baseboard was painted right up to the doors and then stopped and continued on the other side.  None of the window trim had been done either.  When we were talking about what needed to be done I thought we were talking about all of the woodwork.  It is my fault that I had not shown my contract to my husband to see if what it said was what I had thought we had talked and agreed about.  My lack of knowledge on the terminology became a problem.  <br /> I contacted the owner and he was clear that if I wanted the rest of the trim done I would have to pay more money.  Since I had already paid $3500 for 2 small rooms and two ceiling repairs I felt that it was way too much money.  I will paint the rest of the trim myself.   <br /> The quality of the work was excellent, just VERY EXPENSIVE.  I paid only $3000 for work at home that included over 700 sq ft of two 2 story rooms with 8 windows and doors, all the crown molding, baseboards and woodwork including the 2 story ceilings.  A crew of 3 worked 2 days for that job. <br />"

"We had originally contacted this company to simply clean our chimney and to put our chimney cap back in place, since we have had birds in our chimney for two years, and we wanted to begin using our fireplace. When they came for the cleaning, they recommended that we install a cleanout door on the exterior of the chimney, so that the ash and soot would be removed through the outside. We arranged for a second appointment to have the door installed. The job and crew were professional. We are pleased with the result, and intend to hire them to restore our fireplace blower to good working order sometime in the near future."

"Working with Leeland's was a great experience. I had a significant leak in my slate roof and the service appointment was scheduled very quickly. It was explained to me that the way they perform the repair and maintenance jobs was to have me pre-authorize $800 worth of work (time and materials) and if it went over that they would write up a separate estimate. If it was less they would only charge me for the actual work performed. The roofer showed up on time and was very professional. He was onsite for maybe 4 to 5 hours. The leak was fixed that day and 15 other slates that were missing or damaged were also repaired. He took photos of everything that was done - before and after and they were emailed to me in a PDF file later that week. Also included in the email was three estimates for other areas on the roof that need attention. I am planning on having them out to perform general maintenance on the roof every year. Total cost of all repairs was $400. <br />"

"responsive to initial query, no pressure sales guy, just a quote, Install crew was polite and worked hard to complete the job in a single day. Cleaned up the area and when I had a question they responded the next day and corrected the small issue that had been over looked. Gutters and covers seem to work as advertised, I plan to hire them again for some additional work I need done on the exterior of the house, All in all a very good experience."

FAQs for brick or stone siding: install or completely replace projects in Rock Hall, MD

Brick siding offers numerous advantages, including high durability and resistance to harsh weather conditions, requiring minimal maintenance and lasting for generations. It provides natural insulation, enhancing energy efficiency by regulating indoor temperatures year-round. Brick is fire-resistant, improving home safety, and reduces external noise for a quieter indoor environment. Its timeless aesthetic appeal boosts curb appeal and can increase your home's resale value.

Yes, you can add brick to an existing house. One option is to remove the current siding and install full brick masonry, which involves laying traditional bricks with mortar for a solid brick exterior. Alternatively, you can opt for brick veneer siding, a thinner layer of real or manufactured brick applied over the existing structure. Brick veneer is typically more affordable and easier to install while still providing the aesthetic benefits of brick. Both methods can enhance your home's appearance and value.

Yes, installing brick siding often provides a significant return on investment. With an average ROI of around 77%, and some returns exceeding 80%, brick siding enhances curb appeal, energy efficiency, and longevity, making your home more attractive to potential buyers and potentially increasing resale value.

Brick siding is known for its exceptional longevity, often lasting over 100 years when properly maintained. Regular maintenance, like repointing mortar joints, ensures its durability over time. Brick veneer, while thinner than full brick masonry, is durable and can last up to 50 years or more with proper care. Both options offer long-lasting protection and value for your home.

When choosing brick siding, consider your budget, as costs can vary depending on brick type and installation method. Also, consider your desired aesthetic; different bricks offer various colors, textures, and styles to complement your home's architecture. Installation time and complexity are factors, with options like brick veneer being quicker and less labor-intensive than full brick masonry. Additionally, assess the maintenance requirements and durability to select the best option for your long-term needs.

Alternatives to brick siding include vinyl siding, which is cost-effective and low-maintenance and offers a variety of colors and styles. Wood siding provides a natural, classic look but requires more upkeep to prevent weather damage. Fiber cement siding is durable and can mimic the appearance of wood or masonry without the high maintenance. Each alternative has its own advantages, so consider factors like budget, aesthetics, and maintenance when making your choice.
