"Great company! Fantastic crew! Good morals! Impressive work ethic! Very clean, efficient, and timely! Had some cracking in my bicks and I was concerned none the less. I called 4 different foundation repair companies and I was immediately sold on Apex! There not the cheapest but to my personal experience they are absolutely the best. They told everything I needed to expect on the front end. And much to my surprise they fixed my foundation and bricks in less than a day. Then after all is said and done they have lifetime warranty?s on everything they do! If your having issues with your foundation, look no farther than Apex Foundation Specialist!!!"

"Stan is very professional and conscientious in his work. Stan replaced a tub with a shower base and surrounding wall outfit. I had purchased the faucet, drain and shower unit. Stan relaxed the valve connected new faucet and drain. He cleaned up the work site and even mopped the floor. I definitely recommend Bay City plumbing."

"I had to have a new roof put on my 3400sq. ft house after hurricane Ivan. I had to hire the only person I could find, needless to say, I got ripped off. My roof leaked during the first rain after my new roof. I had a couple guys try to stop the leaks, but no luck. A friend told me about All-Phase Roofing, and I called them one morning and the owner showed up at my house that same day and patched my roof and I’ve had NO LEAKS since. I will definitely hire them for my next roof. I highly recommend All-Phase Roofing!!"

"I couldn't be more thrilled!  I called Havard on my day off and Kenneth and crew came right over.  They immediately identified the problems and solved them...all without having to stop and pick up parts.  Needless to say, I was happy...especially on my day off during the holidays!  I would highly recommend Havard Plumbing for your plumbing needs.

"R&A Roofing did an excellent job installing our new roof and porch. R&A's attention to detail and quality of work left this customer completely satisfied with the finished product. Our house looks like a totally different home and I would use R&A on future projects. The cost of the project was fair and reasonable.  I would highly recommend this company to both family and friends.

"Our technician, Dameyan Jackson, called the night before the day of service to let me know the time that he would be here to service our system. On Friday, he called to let me know that he was available to come earlier than scheduled, if I would like. He arrived shortly after the phone call, came in and quickly recognized that the pump had failed. He was very knowledgeable and professional. I was very pleased with his service and look forward to him returning to install a new pump."

FAQs for sump pump or interior foundation drains installation projects in Saint-Elmo, AL

Most residential pumps draw approximately 1,300 to 2,900 watts when they first start, then settle at roughly 800 to 1,050 watts during normal operation. The exact number depends on the motor’s horsepower and how often the float switch tells the pump to run. Even at the high end, the electricity cost is minor compared with the expense of cleaning up a flooded basement.

Grab a ruler and an empty 18‑inch‑wide pit. During a steady rain, time how much the water rises in one minute. Multiply that depth (in inches) by 60 to calculate gallons per hour, then add 50% for safety. If the result tops 2,100 gallons per hour—about 35 gallons a minute—you’ll need a 3/4‑horsepower unit. Anything lower, and a 1/3- or 1/2-horsepower pump should do the trick.

Loud rattling, constant cycling, or shuddering vibrations are the pump’s way of telling you it’s on its last legs. Musty smells, higher electric bills, and visible rust are other red flags. If the unit is 10 years old or older and exhibits any of these symptoms, replace it before the next heavy rain turns your basement into a wading pool.

You don’t have to hire a licensed plumber, but you should still bring in someone who installs sump pumps for a living—whether that’s a plumber, basement‑waterproofing specialist, or experienced handyman. They know the local codes, can wire the pump safely, and will test the system before they leave. Skipping professional help might void the warranty and could leave you with a pump that fails when you need it most.

Not every basement needs a pump, but if your home sits in a floodplain, has a high water table, or has ever taken on water during a storm, a sump pump is inexpensive insurance. For basements that only struggle with condensation or the occasional damp spot, sealing cracks and improving drainage may be all that is needed.
