"My lawn sprinkler system was not working properly. Earl and his son Dave knew exactly what the problem was. Dave and his crew installed a new well and pump. They were punctual, professional and courteous. Their pride in their work was obvious. Dave even returned several weeks later at no additional charge to fix a problem that turned out to be my own fault. Now my lawn gets all the water it needs. Would definitely use them again."

"Ed did an amazing job replacing the broken pump in my well. He also saved me over $1,000. Previously, my irrigation company referred me to a different well service who told me they needed to drill out my well to remove the old pump and then use a more expensive model of a new pump. These steps were unnecessary and inflated the quoted cost of the job significantly. Ed came out and used his equipment to remove the old pump quickly and replace it. He's an honest businessman -- I'll be referring him to my neighbors."

"Tim arrived, was very friendly, performed services rapidly. He informed me of the poor quality of the new water & recommended (with no pressure) a water filter or softener to correct the problem. Tim was outstanding!"

"Jeff and Patrick were awesome! My fear was the septic built in 1995 may have failed do to age. Original septic company came out and pump system dry and left me with impression that a new $10,000 drain field would be required. I then called Tampa Bay Plumbers to provide second opinion which to my amazement was very relieved to hear that system could be revitalized with proper cleaning and special liquid treatment for under $800. Jeff and Patrick were very upfront and even commented that their goal was to provide only required service no matter how small to assure confidence and trusting relationship. After hiring for job Patrick found the issue which was preventing the drain lines to operate, the diverter plastic box at the output side of septic tank had been crushed seemingly by cable company installation using a trencher which cut into neck of diverted box to the point that septic was blocked from reaching drain field. We are now back to normal , the system is flowing, but time will tell if chemical (liquid bacteria with oxigent ) has done its job in cleaning bio-mat in drain field."

FAQs for well pump repair or service projects in Saint Petersburg, FL

A standard well inspection begins with a visual inspection of the pump, casing, storage tank, and wiring, followed by flow rate tests and laboratory-based water sampling. The goal is to confirm that every part meets safety standards and to identify any necessary repairs before they become expensive. An inspector will also test your water quality for substances such as volatile organic compounds and any local containment concerns.

Book a licensed, insured well specialist for your inspection. Many well‑pump contractors also hold inspection credentials. They’ll bring the right tools to assess the pump, wiring, and water quality, and provide you with a clear report on any necessary fixes. Before you hire, confirm their license, insurance, and recent customer reviews.

Plan on a full well inspection every year. You’ll also want one any time the cap comes off, after septic repairs, or if flooding occurs. Annual tests look for total and fecal coliform; every two years, the lab should screen for metals and nitrates, and every five years for VOCs and pesticides. If you’re buying a home with a private well, it’s essential to schedule a pre-purchase inspection.

With routine care, most wells supply clean water for up to 40 years. Lifespan depends on the type and how well you protect it. To help it reach the maximum lifespan, keep hazardous products far from the casing, ensure the cap stays sealed, schedule yearly inspections, and address problems as soon as they appear. Good habits keep the system healthy and the water safe.

The average cost of well repairs ranges from $100 to $2,800. Your final bill depends on which part—pump, pressure tank, casing, or piping—needs attention and the level of complexity involved in the repair. A thorough inspection identifies the problem, allowing you to budget accurately and avoid paying for unnecessary parts or services.
