"Getting a walk in tub is expensive no matter who you use. My experience thus far is with installation only and I must say my install went great. It has been over a month and no issues with my tub so I cannot comment on repair process with American Standard."

"Good: Tile came out good, installation looks good. Stayed within estimate. Not so good: Somewhat careless with work. Put a hole in the wall, which he did fix. Chipped bathtub while installing, but did replace it. The day he chipped it he had me pay for work done and did not tell me of the chip. He then when to Lowes to see if they had them in stock. Luckily, Lowes had one. He then called me and told me what happened."

"Improve America used good materials and all the work performed was done in a professional manner.  The workers we interfaced with over a five week period were cordial, knowledgeable and cleaned up after themselves as the work progressed.  They were innovative in solving problems that arise with any such project and made helpful suggestions that did not occurr to me.  An example was noting that previously unused space under a stairwell could be turned into useful storage space for a minimal cost.  This single improvement provided us with quite a bit of additional storage space.  The owner and his wife were friendly and easy to work with and provided a detailed estimate clearly explaining all the work to be performed and the price for each piece of work.  After the work was complete a signed warranty was provided covering all defects in workmanship for a 5 year period.  As with any project involving numerous interfaces (all handled by the owner) with carpenters, electricians, plumbers, sheet rock installers/finishers and painters some delays were experienced.  The work could have been preformed in a shorter period, but the owner did make efforts to expedite it where possible.  I would recommend Improve America for home improvement or repairs as I trust the owner and his ability to provide general contract services. <br />"

Customers say: Quick response

"Great! I purchased this home in June of 2018, from MN, and had a different contractor hired to do all of the above, as of the day I closed, July 9. I was planning on moving in mid August. July 3 I found out the contractor I thought I had hired would not be able to do the job. I called Chris the morning of July 4. He met with my realtor at the house and took the job. Of course he was not able to start right away, but he had all the work completed by and I was able to move by mid September. I literally do not know what I would have done without him - I had called three other local contractors, and even tried Buildzoom and no one returned my calls. He was professional, communicative and the work that he did on my home is beautiful. I only made two trips down to the house while the work was being done and we managed to coordinate the rest via phone, efficiently. What a godsend. I am hiring Chris again in January to do a few more things I have noticed since moving in, and will continue to use him in the future. I cannot recommend him highly enough."

FAQs for walk in tub installation and replacement projects in Sale Creek, TN

Because Medicare classifies walk-in tubs as non-durable medical equipment, it generally won’t pick up the tab. Medicaid can help if a doctor certifies that the tub is medically necessary, but rules change by state. Call your plan early, ask which forms you need, and keep any prescriptions or letters on file to improve your odds of reimbursement.

A walk-in bathtub’s fill and drain times hinge on your home’s water pressure and the tub’s hardware. Most models with a fast-fill faucet need about six to eight minutes to fill and two to three minutes to drain; larger basins or standard drains can tack on an extra 10 minutes. Stay seated until the water is completely gone so you don’t swing the door open on a full tub’s worth of water.

A walk-in bathtub holds 50 gallons of water, and its design supports capacities that range from 40 to 80 gallons, depending on the product. In contrast, a standard bathtub holds 25 to 45 gallons. This capacity is determined by the fixed design of the tub and its construction materials. Homeowners should review the detailed product specifications to confirm the exact volume available for use during bath time.

Walk-in tubs are tax-deductible when the purchase qualifies as a necessary medical expense and meets the IRS criteria. Caregivers who install a walk-in tub also qualify for the Dependent Care Tax Credit under specific conditions. Homeowners must verify these requirements with the IRS and consult a tax professional, as state and program guidelines enforce strict documentation standards for such deductions.
