"Lonnie Goodman was very responsive to what we wanted, and our budget. He found a turf product we liked at a close out price, and did an innovative install of a 105 foot long roll, with only 1 small seam. He brought over 12 workers to manually move the entire piece into place where it was then cut and fitted against a rock wall, making our back yard look like a manicured park. Even though there were shipping delays with the freight company, the install began as soon as the turf arrived, and took less than 3 days to finish. A Quality 1 also committed to come back and inspect the turf after it had settled a few weeks and make any required adjustments. Lonnie was good to work with."

"I found this company on Angie's List, and the reviews were correct. This is a great company and Matt and Chris were both really helpful when I called about not knowing how much or what kind of soil to order. We got it and quot;figgeredand quot; out, made the appointment, and the morning of delivery, Chris called to let me know they were on their way. <br /> Boy was my nephew surprised at how much 7 1/2 yards of soil amounts to! <br /> It is really excellent soil for tired lawns. I can't wait to watch it green up. <br />"

"I was very happy with work that was done this past May. but then asphalt is now starting to cracked in several areas. I have attempted to contact Dallas Luke via emails and phone messages and have not yet received a call back from him. I did call office and leave message and did get one return call from a nice woman who said she will make sure I get a call back, but still waiting>> As much as I paid for the work to be done, I hoped to get good quality. Just want Luke's Asphalt to make thing right!!!"

"I have worked with this company for almost two years now. They installed our initial landscaping in our new home for the front and back yards. They did a fantastic job. They have followed up with several more things for us and have always handled them in an excellent way. How nice it is to work with someone who provides honest, fair, high quality work for a great value."

"Allied Outdoor Solutions installed a paver patio for us. It is awesome and they were awesome. I’m not sure if we got lucky or if all their crews are as good as ours was. Carlos, Jeremy and Javier nailed it. They worked very hard, paid attention to detail and were super nice and polite. Also, during the COVID-19 stay-at-home order, Carlos proactively communicated with us regarding delays and rescheduling, reassuring us that we would be a priority as soon as they were able to work on site again (and kept his word during a challenging time). We would definitely go with Allied Outdoor Solutions again! Lester & Merryl Carson Fort Worth, TX"

"Everything went great. The two employees dispatched to our home were prompt, polite, and wasted no time getting to work. They repaired 3 broken PVC pipe breaks, 3 sprinkler heads, and adjusted several more. Took about two hours. The foreman took me on a zone by zone tour when they had finished to make sure everything was working properly. Good job Rick."

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in San Antonio, TX

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
