"Jerry (H&H Develoment) and his installer (Mike) did a GREAT JOB. I got several bids on this job and H&H was a) the most responsive, b) extremely punctual, c) curteous and friendly, d) knowledgable, d) the lowest price and e) the shades are most excellent (top down/bottom up). While the other suppliers seemed qualified, H&H's price was about 1/2 to 1/3 the price of the competitors and their lead time (2 weeks vs. 4 - 8 weeks) were also a marked advantage. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED."

"Working with Gary and his son was excellent! Six months ago we hired them to install plantation shutters in our sun room. It was exactly what the room needed and they have been working perfect. Our family appreciates the shutters every single day. I can't wait to have them back for the rest of our house! Great job guys! Thanks again!"

"I'm in the middle of a renovation and have been working with many different vendors in the construction and home repair business.  It's never been crazier in the bay area and delays and missed commitments are the norm.  My experience with Simmons Glass stands out as the shining exception.  Other glass companies said they couldn't get out to give me an estimate for at least a month and the lead time on getting the glass would be long.  Simmons showed up within a few days to provide an estimate and the whole job was completed within 2 weeks.  The work was done carefully and well.  I couldn't be happier! <br />"

"What a fantastic experience with US Window Renewal. They replaced 15 windows with vinyl Amerimax windows, and 2 windows with Marvin wood windows in my 1915 house.  I got 3 bids for this job and US window Renewal (found through Angie's List) ended up being the lowest by far. They beat one other competitor by ~$1500, significant compared to the total amount!  Mike and his team are fantastic - professional, affordable, and thorough.    Some points: <br /> + During the measure-up and the estimate process, he caught what another competitor missed: that the windows in one bedroom would not meet egress code and would not pass inspection if the new windows were installed at the same size as the original windows. His team reframed them so the center one was wider and the 2 outer ones were narrower, so the center one would meet code. I was worried about changing them since they are front and center on the house, but the windows look great, and like they have always been that way. <br /> + The front door has 2 special side lights with a  lot of detail, so I wanted to keep these as wood windows with divided lites.  When these windows arrived, he noticed that they did not match the dimensioned drawing he had done and had the company re-make the windows. <br /> + For a very reasonable fee they added exterior trim to some windows that were trimless. These windows now match all the others on the house, and they look so much better than they did before! <br /> + Mike is so likable and professional.   Seriously, a good guy. <br />"

"They did a phenomenal job. They have done one window so far and we have 13 more to go. This was a test to see how it came out and to see what sort of work was necessary on both their side and our side. We needed to make sure that we definitely liked the company. They were fast and efficient, and they did it exactly how they said they would do it. They delivered it and did a better job than we even dreamt of; they came back and put the window in and even put hardware on it that was really good stuff and matched the rest of the house. Other people said it would be a couple hundred dollars more expensive."

"The whole job was Exceptional from Scot Stavert who precisely and accurately measured all the windows and trim to Luis H. and Porfirio A. who meticulously installed everything. All the exterior wood trim was replaced and none of the stucco was disturbed. I've been a Licensed Contractor for 35 years and consequently have worked with or employed many people. I would recommend AVW to anyone without the least hesitation! From start to finish everyone was Professional, courteous and caring. Their attention to detail exceeded my expectations. They truly are the #1 Window Company in my opinion."

"XOTek did an outstanding job in installing my replacement windows. They performed with excellence in all phases of the project from the initial sales presentation to the final completion of the installation, including follow-up. The sales presentation was very thorough and provided me with an excellent understanding of the details of replacement windows, so that I was able to better understand what to look for as I was doing my research, etc. He encouraged me to get multiple quotes so that I would be more knowledgeable about the window replacement availabilities and companies, and be able to make a more informed decision. The office administrative staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. The installation crew was very thorough and meticulous in doing the job. Three different persons came out to measure the windows on three separate occasions. The person who did the installation was a marvel to observe. He was very detailed conscious and very persistent to insure that the work was exactly as he wanted it. The crew cleaned up the work area, so that when they were gone, it was very clean without any residual mess. There was one minor flaw in the window mechanism, and they came out immediately to correct the issue. The windows are great – the replacement windows are made by Amerimax Building Products, Inc. After doing my research, I believe that they are the best you can find in my area. I give XOTek a full 5 star rating without any reservations. I fully recommend XOTek to anyone who is looking for someone to replace the windows in their home. <br /> <br /> <br />"

FAQs for new windows service projects in San Francisco, CA

Yes, bay windows add value to a home. They enhance the property by expanding the interior space and flooding rooms with natural light. Their unique three-panel design creates a stunning focal point that elevates curb appeal and modernizes living areas. This architectural detail increases both functional space and visual appeal, directly contributing to higher home resale value.

Yes, all window types have the potential to become part of a bay window configuration when modified correctly. The transformation involves reconfiguring standard windows into a multi-panel design that features a larger central window flanked by smaller ones. This process requires precise professional planning and custom framing to ensure durability, visual balance, and structural integrity.

Bay windows typically consist of three glass panels extending beyond the home's exterior walls, with a larger center panel flanked by two smaller ones. In contrast, bow windows are composed of four to six equally sized glass panels that create a gentle curve and do not extend as far from the exterior walls.

Bay windows cost more than standard windows because their expansive, multi-panel design requires additional materials and skilled labor. Their construction involves extra glass, specialized frame components that extend outward, and complex operating mechanisms. These technical demands necessitate precise engineering and multiple expert installations, thereby significantly increasing both material and labor expenses.

Bay windows cost three times more than standard double-hung windows because their design requires extra panels, expanded framing, and a more complex installation process. The advanced construction method increases material consumption and demands comprehensive expertise, while specialized window treatments further elevate expenses. This all results in a significant difference in overall project cost.
