"We would highly recommend McWherter Window Coverings.  Throughout the process, Gary McWherter was very responsive and always professional.  He was a pleasure to work with.  We weren't sure exactly what we were looking for, and had some "challenging" windows to dress.  We knew we wanted plantation shutters for the two front bedrooms, which Gary agreed would look good.  We have a large arched window in the dining area and sliding French doors in the living room.  Quite honestly, we really hadn't thought much about window treatments when we were doing the remodel.  Gary asked a lot of great questions and  once we decided on what would cover the windows, he brought in many samples to choose from.  It was all a bit overwhelming, but Gary was patient and offered some excellent suggestions.  We ended up doing Luminette Privacy Sheers in the living room which look fantastic.  We were concerned with privacy and "darkness" issues throughout the house, and Gary took all of this into consideration when he made suggestions.  Over the arched window in the dining area, we decided on Silhouttes (its actually one big window and two windows on the sides which complete the arch).  We have received many compliments on the window treatments and are thrilled how they turned out.  Gary and his son Tyler did the installations, and they were both so professional and on task with what needed to be done.  We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this company.  <br />"

"I researched replacement windows before hand so as to be as knowledgeable as a consumer can be. Our windows were each 92" x 77" (over sized).  We had numerous replacement window companies out for bids. <b>ALL</b> said the window companies they represented could not build the windows we wanted due to their large size. Then we called CECS.  Lance, the rep they sent out (in the past he owned his own window co), took measurements and made a few phone calls and said it could be done and at a fair price. He was very responsive to answering all our questions with all the right answers. He knows windows. What is really strange about this whole experience is some of the other replacement window companies who offered the <b>same brand and model</b> window as the ones we just had installed, said our windows couldn't be built. Lance knew who to call to get it done. <br> <br>Since the windows were so large, CECS sent out Brandon and Omar, their 2 lead installers, for our job . They had them installed in a few hours and everything went perfectly. They answered all our questions politely and left the job immaculate. Really great Service ! <br> <br>My wife and I love our new windows and what a picturesque view CECS has given us. <br> <br>"

"The whole job was Exceptional from Scot Stavert who precisely and accurately measured all the windows and trim to Luis H. and Porfirio A. who meticulously installed everything. All the exterior wood trim was replaced and none of the stucco was disturbed. I've been a Licensed Contractor for 35 years and consequently have worked with or employed many people. I would recommend AVW to anyone without the least hesitation! From start to finish everyone was Professional, courteous and caring. Their attention to detail exceeded my expectations. They truly are the #1 Window Company in my opinion."

"I worked with Robin to pick out the doors and schedule the installation. She is very professional, warned me about possible complications, and kept me informed about any delays (4 days for shipping). Robin arranged for an electrician to move my outlets a couple of days before the installation. Jim and Ruben installed the door in one day, and left my living room SPOTLESS. Someone came and did a great job on my stucco after. I will be hiring them again for my windows. my door was 4000.00, labor/electrician/stucco/door installation was the rest."

FAQs for new windows service projects in San Jose, CA

Yes, bay windows add value to a home. They enhance the property by expanding the interior space and flooding rooms with natural light. Their unique three-panel design creates a stunning focal point that elevates curb appeal and modernizes living areas. This architectural detail increases both functional space and visual appeal, directly contributing to higher home resale value.

Yes, all window types have the potential to become part of a bay window configuration when modified correctly. The transformation involves reconfiguring standard windows into a multi-panel design that features a larger central window flanked by smaller ones. This process requires precise professional planning and custom framing to ensure durability, visual balance, and structural integrity.

Bay windows typically consist of three glass panels extending beyond the home's exterior walls, with a larger center panel flanked by two smaller ones. In contrast, bow windows are composed of four to six equally sized glass panels that create a gentle curve and do not extend as far from the exterior walls.

Bay windows cost more than standard windows because their expansive, multi-panel design requires additional materials and skilled labor. Their construction involves extra glass, specialized frame components that extend outward, and complex operating mechanisms. These technical demands necessitate precise engineering and multiple expert installations, thereby significantly increasing both material and labor expenses.

Bay windows cost three times more than standard double-hung windows because their design requires extra panels, expanded framing, and a more complex installation process. The advanced construction method increases material consumption and demands comprehensive expertise, while specialized window treatments further elevate expenses. This all results in a significant difference in overall project cost.
