"While trying to remove a Flowtite valve to replace the leaking coldwater supply hose  and valve to a sink in our condo bathroom, the 16 year old brittle CPVC pipe broke off at a joint inside the wall behind the vanity. Admitting that I was now out of my league,  I checked Angies List  and called Pro Tec before 8 on a Monday morning. After making sure that it was not an emergency ( I had shut down the main water supply before trying to replace supply hose) dispatcher said they would get a supervisor out  to my location as soon as possible as the field crews were already going on their first scheduled jobs. <br /> Dave arrived by 10. After inspecting the damage, he advised me on how he wanted to proceed with the repair. I gave the approval and he went to work.. <br /> His work at cutting the back of the vanity and opening up the wall was clean, minimally invasive and will be easy to cover over. He even took the time to make sure that residual water in the pipe would not drip inside my wall or on the downstairs neighbor's ceiling before cutting out the fitting that  needed to be replaced with the broken pipe. <br /> The pipe repair is less cluttered and looks better than the original installation.  While the glue  for the pipe repair set, Dave replaced the water supply hose and shutoff valve that started all of this. When the glue had set, he tested the system pressure. <br /> I am satisfied with the work, price and professional attitude displayed. I will not hesitate to use Pro Tec again, and am happy to recommend them to my neighbors. <br /> <br /> <br />"

"$200 and my tub still drains very slow. It takes 2 or more hours to drain after a quick shower. We were told that it would cost $1,500 to $1,800 to remove a piece of drain stopper that was rusted ! IL have also had horrible service in the past from Roto-Rutor ,years ago when they sent someone that charged me over $600 to put in new pipes under my kitchen sink and he cut off the access to the hot water. I called many times and was always told that the owner was out of town. I had them before and they went on the roof and snaked the pipe for $100,but the man they sent was way to heavy to climb a ladder or get on my roof. Nothing was ever don't to fix my hot water. I don't have much faith in plumbing businesses anymore!"

"Two jobs were done on separate occasions. The first was I needed my washer and dryer removed from a hall closet so I could have more storage. Both appliances were moved to the garage, and the pipes rerouted and drywall patched. Came out great. The other was when a toilet began leaking from underneath. Toilet was uprooted and all the degraded drain seal redone and toilet reseated. Awesome and fast fix."

FAQs for gas piping projects in Sanibel, FL

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
