"Carlos has been helping us with some framing items we needed to take care of in the midst of a renovation of our 1926 home. He has proved to be reliable, efficient, and fair in his pricing, as well as very pleasant to work with. I am keeping his number as I will definitely work with him again in the future and recommend him to anyone needing framing or deck building services."

"I found RNI Framing through my brother he hired them for a second-story addition and was pleased with the results. Based on his experience, I hired them to frame, side, and roof my new home. It was a big help that they could handle all three parts, it saved me from coordinating between different trades. The crew arrived on time, communicated clearly, and finished the job on schedule and within budget. They were reliable, responsive, and easy to work with. I liked their straightforward approach and quality workmanship. I would recommend them to other homeowners. "

Customers say: Quick response

"Aaron and his crew repaired water damage from a leak in our front porch roof. They reframed the deck and replaced the deck surface, then replaced a roof beam, part of a soffett, and built up a new roof substructure for a new flat roof. They replaced exterior stairs, and side shingles in a number of impacted areas. It was multiple projects to get our 100 year old porch back in great shape. They finished off with painting around this project and all other trim around the house. The house is in great shape after all their efforts. Aaron's time estimates at different stages were right on. He and his crew were timely and easy to have around. We like their work quay and we'd work with them again."

FAQs for carpentry framing installation projects in Seattle, WA

Both steel and wood can last over 100 years with proper care. However, wood could rot or warp when exposed to moisture, whereas galvanized steel is rotproof, insect-proof, and much more fire-resistant. Steel is friendlier to the environment as it doesn’t require cutting down trees, and the frame can be recycled. The energy-efficiency rating of metal stud framing can be higher than conventional wood construction. Metal studs are easier and quicker to install.

Whether you’re using wood or metal stud framing, follow the “16 on center” rule, meaning you should have a stud every 16 inches. A 20-foot wall spans a total of 320 inches. This works out to 20 spans of 16 inches, plus one starting stud, for a total requirement of 21 studs to frame a 20-foot wall.

Drywall installation costs $1.15 to $2 per square foot on metal stud framing or $2,300 for an average 2,000-square-foot house. The total cost for metal framing and drywall ranges from $20 to $30 per linear foot. Metal frames often seem light, but they can be exceptionally strong once drywall or sheathing is attached.
