"Smart Electric are awesome!! They rewired our whole house and installed a new heat pump. They were meticulous and well priced. They didn’t make unnecessarily big holes in the walls, which the inspector even marvelled at. Joe and his team are pro’s, we wouldn’t work with anyone else now"

"Jim did a great job of informing me of what he was doing, diagnosing the problem, and recommending options to repair or replace our heat pump."

"I've used Seatown for several different service calls. By far the most major one was a partial rewire that replaced some knob and tube wiring. There are several reasons why I view the as an excellent company: - Their administrative and dispatch system is efficiently and competently run. Phone calls during business hours are answered quickly (I've never been on hold for more than a minute or so), they usually have good availability, and the phone operator takes plenty of notes during your phone call which are then communicated to your technician who then has ample context on your problem right up front. - All of the technicians I've worked with have been friendly, communicative, and professional. It always seemed like they know what they're doing. Also, they will patiently explain to you what's causing your issue and what they did to resolve it. - I want to particularly call out Micah, the technician in charge of my rewire project, who was outstanding. He initially came out to diagnose why a couple of circuit breakers were constantly tripping, and identified the need to rewire my garage, office, furnace, and one bedroom. He wrote me an estimate, which I later compared to other companies' and turned out to be quite reasonable. Between my shopping around and heavy holiday demand, it wound up being a few weeks before the rewire was completed. In the intervening time, the circuits tripped a few more times. When I notified Micah of this, he offered to personally come over to further troubleshoot the problem - on Christmas Day - despite Seatown being closed! Micah also found a way to complete the rewire with almost no interior drywall damage. Finally, he was particularly helpful in answering my many questions about my home's electrical system, both before and after the rewire. Micah's combination of professional competence and personal empathy is very uncommon and exemplary. If you hire Seatown for any major electrical work, try to get Micah as your technician. While I am overall very satisfied with Seatown, there are a couple areas that I think could be improved: - At one point between Micah's initial estimate and the start of the rewire project, the circuit connecting my furnace gave out. This was on December 23rd, and I was concerned about my house not having heat. I e-mailed Seatown's emergency mailbox requesting someone come out requesting emergency service, but did not receive a response until December 27th. The office being closed for the holidays is completely understandable, but if you're going to have an emergency mailbox then you should be able to respond to it promptly 24/7, or at least have some kind of auto-reply that sets expectations on when a human can respond. - For relatively minor calls, their service visit fee is quite inelastic relative to the work that is actually done. By which I mean, I've paid about $300 every time they send an electrician out (other than the rewire), regardless of whether they did significant work like replace damaged, bare wire in my breaker panel, or just tell me not to use a space heater. It probably evens out in the long run, but each service call is a bit of a crap shoot on whether I'm going to feel like I got my money's worth. It seems to me to make more sense to charge a lower up-front visit fee, but then charge additionally for specific services rendered."

"Non functioning furnace was inspected with the diagnosis being that the electrical input to the furnace was not adequate. Unfortunately, representative could not trouble shoot the electrical further, recommending an electrician. Once electrical issues were resolved, furnace was fine. Unfortunately two different companies to solve a relatively minor problem was disappointing, but a solved issue was the end result."

"Cameron who came out to give me the bid was very personable and easy to work with. I had to change the AC unit to qualify for my HOA requirement, and then I decided I wanted the upgraded heater. Once all the changes had been made I set up an installation date with the office. The morning of the installation I received an email with the names (Kyle, Brock, and Colton) of the 3 technicians that would be coming, which I really appreciated. They were here on time and even though we had scheduled 2 days they were able to complete everything in 1 day by staying a little later. The technicians were great! Knowledgeable, friendly, and took care when they had to come inside the house. Pricing was competitive. I would recommend this company."

"I'd been wanting to get of our old electric baseboard heaters for a long time, and replace it with something more efficient, and Mark helped my understand the differences between a ductless mini-split system and a ducted heatpump system. Even in our small house, the ducted system was the way to go. Mark and his installers were professional and efficient, and answered all my questions. When the thermostat was acting a little odd, he sent a technician over to calibrate it, free of charge. There was a small issue where I initially got the wrong specs for the electrical, and as a result I had the electrician install unnecessary circuits, but Marc reimbursed me for the cost."

"We discovered our A/C was out on what was going to be the hottest day of the year so far (and a Sunday). Evergreen were the quickest to reply to our various after-hours inquiries and had the best rate for the diagnosis (at least, of the ones that ever ended up replying). They were out within an hour, and luckily it was a simple and quick fix, just replacing a burned out part. When we looked up comparables later, the repair cost (itemized separate from diagnosis) was on the higher end, but we were happy to get it fixed before the day heated up."

FAQs for electrical baseboard or wall heater service projects in Seattle, WA

Electric baseboard heating costs an average of $400 per month for a 1,200-square-foot house. Your monthly cost can vary depending on factors such as regional climate, energy usage, and the efficiency of your system. Improving insulation and using zone heating can help manage operational expenses. Local electricity rates have a significant impact on costs, with some areas experiencing rates that are up to 50% higher than the national average. Older units are less efficient, resulting in higher monthly heating costs.

Electric convection baseboard heaters are less energy-efficient because they lose heat rapidly after being in active operation. Their design causes rapid heat dissipation, which forces the heater to consume extra energy to maintain the desired temperature. This increased energy consumption is a direct result of the rapid loss of stored heat, reducing overall energy efficiency. Despite this drawback, these heaters are designed for longevity and can operate effectively for over 20 years, making them a durable and long-term option for providing warmth in your home.

Baseboard heaters offer precise room-by-room temperature control, and their installation costs $100 to $150 per room. In contrast, forced-air systems cost $5,000 for a moderately sized house but include features like dehumidifiers and central air conditioning. While baseboard heaters convert energy directly into heat, forced-air systems can increase your home's resale value and adaptability. When deciding between the two, consider both the installation costs and monthly energy expenses to determine which option best fits your long-term needs.

Electric baseboard heaters should be replaced when they no longer provide consistent and steady warmth and when repair costs continually outweigh the benefits of keeping the current unit. They need to be replaced as soon as persistent issues occur that indicate the unit's degradation. Clear signs for replacement include visible corrosion, slow heating response, and diminished heat output. Allowing these problems to persist not only increases energy consumption but also poses safety risks. Upgrading to a modern heating system ensures improved energy efficiency and reliability, providing a safer and more reliable heating solution for your home.
