"Another great experience with Switch Electric. Technician was on-time and completed the work quickly, after they were done working couldn't even tell they had been here other than the new outlet as the work area was so thoroughly cleaned. I'll continue to use Switch Electric as my go-to provider for Electrical work."

"I contacted the company via email in December and did not get a response but when I sent a second request I got an immediate answer and scheduled an appointment. Emily was prompt and worked efficiently to replace an outlet and run a connection to a light on the deck stairs. Including the trip to Home Depot for supplies, she was involved for 3 hours. She cleaned up for thoroughly when she finished. Although electrical work always seems very expensive, I am pleased with the result."

"We hired Joe to install some electrical outlets and lighting upgrades in a few places in our house, garage and shop. He showed up on time, was friendly and respectful (wore a mask) and took the time to really understand not just what we wanted to do but why we were doing it. This actually led to some even better ideas than we originally had. Joe seemed to be very knowledgeable when it came to the options available and the codes that had to be followed. All the work was done at a reasonable price. We would definitely hire him again for any future electrical needs."

"John came and replaced a couple of broken switches and he did a great job. I would recommend him highly. He went over and above the call of duty to help us with our light outlets and switch problems."

"Solid in all aspects of their work. Work included EV plug, but also 240V plus to convert from nat. gas to electric dryer, and a complex routing of a new outlet in a difficult to access 2nd floor bedroom. Each component 'hit all the numbers'. I will be using them again, as a house that is shy 100 years old always has 'more' to do!"

" I hired Red Wire Electric to replace some electrical outlets, install a dimmer and replace two bathroom fans. I’m very happy with their work. They arrived on time, were knowledgeable and professional, and took care to clean up after they were done. The invoice I received was exactly the amount that I was quoted in advance of the project. I plan to hire them again the next time I need some electrical work done."

FAQs for electrical switches, outlets & fixtures install or repair projects in Seattle, WA

To select and hire an electrician for your light switch installation, start by evaluating candidates as you would for any skilled position. Ask detailed questions, request a written quote, and verify their licensing credentials. This careful screening prevents unexpected fees and ensures every aspect of the installation, including any drywall repairs, complies with code.

A light switch can malfunction due to compromised wiring or overheating conditions. Faulty connections and excess heat diminish the switch’s performance. If you hear crackling, popping, or hissing sounds when toggling the switch, this indicates active electrical faults that pose a safety hazard and demand immediate professional inspection. Prompt attention prevents further damage and ensures reliable operation.

Installing a light switch takes 30 minutes or less, on average. The installation time depends on the switch type, with dimmer switches requiring additional time compared to standard on-off switches. While the hardware replacement might be completed in 15 minutes, it's essential to adhere to safety protocols, like turning off the circuit breaker and verifying there's no power, for a safe and code-compliant installation.
