"Quality windows at reasonable prices and with excellent customer service. We had a fantastic experience replacing all of the original windows in our home. Everyone was patient as we learned about the process and were quick to respond to questions and changes with our estimate. Installation crew members were friendly and respectful and cleaned up after themselves nicely."

"I have always taken my vehicles to MACs when the project is more in depth than I want to go. I also have them do my stuff when I feel that my time is worth more than the cost of their labor. I had done the front wheel bearings on this car and found they were press fit. After pulling the front end apart and taking it to a friends house to use his press, I had the better part of the day into it. So when the back started howling I called Macs and got a quote. The part was about half of the cost and the rest was labor. I figured that was worth having a Saturday afternoon free instead of wrenching on a car. They are honest people and have always done our jobs right. <br />"

"Extremely well! The salesman was on-time, informative, polite, patient, and answered every question I had. The installer worked non-stop, by himself, and replaced all the windows, trimmed them out, cleaned up EVERYTHING, and was gone in 2 days. He was polite and friendly and obviously had a lot of experience. The exterior trim matches the house perfectly and neighbors/friends comment on the professional work done. We have had a spell of windy, hot weather for the past 8 days. I usually set my air conditioner on 72. . . this summer it is on 78 and as cool as I want it to be. I had a great experience with the company and would recommend American Exteriors for people considering window replacement."

"We purchased this house on 9-1-12 and began having issues with the windows within days. There was so much moisture that I had to wipe the glass several times each day and when the wind blew it whistled. I researched different types of windows and found Heartland to be the best on the market. Mark came to the house with a window and literature and before he left I ordered new windows for my house. They had to be special made because of the size. He sent down 4 guys and in one day they removed and installed all of the windows cleaning up after themselves. It was a pretty big job so the next day they came back and finished the outside work. I had a recent back injury so one of the guys came in and installed 3 window treatments for me. The windows are so nice that I just go from room to room and look at them. Then I open and close the windows and look at them again. They slide and lock into place so easy. I could not be happier. <br />"

"The experience was really good from beginning to end. Scott was my salesman. I used the coupon from Angie's List. The workers did a great job cleaning up. A few weeks later I noticed air coming in from the picture window and called them up. They sent someone out right away. Little John did a great job tightening everything up. Even though the 1st crew missed a final step the service I received from the company as a whole has been good so I don't ding them for it. They corrected the issue promptly. My windows look good and are good quality. I recently called up Scott and ordered 4 more windows. I expect the same great experience. <br />"

FAQs for new windows service projects in Shenandoah, IA

Yes, bay windows add value to a home. They enhance the property by expanding the interior space and flooding rooms with natural light. Their unique three-panel design creates a stunning focal point that elevates curb appeal and modernizes living areas. This architectural detail increases both functional space and visual appeal, directly contributing to higher home resale value.

Yes, all window types have the potential to become part of a bay window configuration when modified correctly. The transformation involves reconfiguring standard windows into a multi-panel design that features a larger central window flanked by smaller ones. This process requires precise professional planning and custom framing to ensure durability, visual balance, and structural integrity.

Bay windows typically consist of three glass panels extending beyond the home's exterior walls, with a larger center panel flanked by two smaller ones. In contrast, bow windows are composed of four to six equally sized glass panels that create a gentle curve and do not extend as far from the exterior walls.

Bay windows cost more than standard windows because their expansive, multi-panel design requires additional materials and skilled labor. Their construction involves extra glass, specialized frame components that extend outward, and complex operating mechanisms. These technical demands necessitate precise engineering and multiple expert installations, thereby significantly increasing both material and labor expenses.

Bay windows cost three times more than standard double-hung windows because their design requires extra panels, expanded framing, and a more complex installation process. The advanced construction method increases material consumption and demands comprehensive expertise, while specialized window treatments further elevate expenses. This all results in a significant difference in overall project cost.
