"Reuben and his crew were wonderful. We had them install the metal siding, shingle roofing and metal roofing on our home (which is new construction). They were prompt, friendly, professional, and provided excellent quality work. We will be using them again this summer to do work on our dock at Lake Mattoon. A big THANK YOU to everyone at Marvon Construction!"

"I hired these guys through word of mouth last year. John came out and gave me an estimate on our Victorian style home. They did a wonderful job replacing broken shakes and removing old paint as well. We are very pleased with this company. Our house has never looked better!"

"Things went pretty well. Of course there are always a few little "gotchas" that don't go quite like you expected, but all things considered we were quite pleased. We <em>love</em> our refurbished kitchen, and everything turned out great. <br /> The workers did a good job of keeping the mess down and left things usable when they left for the day. (At least to the extent possible during a major do-over.) And they were always courteous and professional. And they kept at the work consistently - no long breaks while they went off and worked on someone else's project. <br /> There were a few minor issues that we found after they were done. They were corrected promptly and cheerfully. <br /> I will say, they are not the least expensive option around. You won't have much trouble finding someone who will do the work for less. But we've talked to several people who said they went with another contractor based on cost, and regretted the decision later. <br />"

"It went fine. I got a quote from them but we ended up not going with them. They came out to look at my property and then the quote probably came two weeks after that. Their quote was just too high and I got quotes that were less than that. They were professional. There were a couple of things that I was not too happy with. For example, Darcy Bean sent a plumber out to my house and I was unaware that he was going to be sending a plumber to my house and the plumber contacted me early that morning and said that he needed to come over that very day within the next hour and I told him that that was not going to work for me and that I would have appreciated him calling at least 24 hours in advance. I did not know who the plumber was but he was not the most perceptive to me telling him that he could not come out that day. In general, Darcy was professional but he did state that he was going to come out to give me the quote on a Monday and then he ended up not doing that. I kept having to ask him if he was coming that Monday because he had never set a time and then he finally got back to me that Monday morning and said that he could not come that day and that he would have to come the following day. I would probably not consider getting a quote from them in the future just because I think that most of their quotes would probably be pretty high."

"The tearoff was difficult due to the 3 layers that were on the house. The job was done very neatly in a timely fashion with minimal disturbance to our landscape. They completed the work in less than two weeks and the final result was a very nice looking roof. They also took great care not to damage our siding and windows in the process. They covered attic contents with plastic sheating to collect much of the debris that fell in. Mr. Ritter and his wife were extremely accomodating and pleasant to work with. Their employees were also very courteous to us. They readily took on a few extra add-ons with very fair prices. The only thing that they might improve upon would be sweeping the lawn for nail pickup- they missed a lot. In summary, I highly recommend them and would use them again in the future."

"They were great to work with and did an excellent job. They installed CertainTeed shingles with a 50 year guarantee. They also installed two skylights. I did get a few bugs in the light and they came out and cleaned them and resealed them. I had some other work done on my siding by another contractor and he said the quality of the roof installation was excellent. <br />"

"Whenever you tear into an older home (37 year old house) you are never quite sure what you will find. Plus, as the project took shape and we were no longer looking a a drawing, we changed our mind about a couple small things. The MJ crew was great to work with about making changes to ensure we were happy with the finished project. Our home did not have the proper plumbing for the bathroom (instead of under the floor, the sewage lines ran out the wall to the septic tank) so half of our project cost was for tearing up the concrete floor and installing plumbing that should have been installed when the house was built. The project took a little longer than anticipated but Jeb and his crew saw that by the end of the first week we were able to move the washer & dryer back so we could do some laundry without having to run to the laundrymat. Thankfully, a friend had an appliance dolly he could loan us for the 3 week duration which made it easy to move the washer and dryer in and out when workers were coming and needed to be in that area."

FAQs for major home repair (general contractor) projects in Sidell, IL

In many cases, it’s much less expensive to convert a bus than to buy an RV, especially if you’re considering a newer RV model, which can exceed $100,000.

Another huge benefit of school bus conversion is that you are in control of the renovation project. You get to pick your camper's new layout and all the appliances and furniture.

While school buses can easily cost $300,000 when they're new, you can often find used buses for just a few thousand dollars. These vehicles experience extreme depreciation due to government regulations; they can only be used for so long before they must be replaced. Due to those same regulations, other government agencies cannot purchase them for their own uses, so the consumer market is the only place they can go.

The length of time it takes to convert a bus depends on the scope of the project (and size of the bus), how much work is DIY vs. done by a professional contractor, and how much work you’re doing up front.

In general, expect at least a couple of months for a conversion, but larger conversions could take six months to a year. Remember: You can tackle projects as you go: Get the basic work done so that it’s livable, and then continue to enhance your living space over time.
