"This company is OUTSTANDING! We had damage to the windows in the house we just bought and contacted Jeff to come out and do and estimate. His team responded immeadiately and came out the following day. Paul could not have been nicer, more professional or helpful. He look at the damaged window and was able to ascertain who installed them through a code on the window. Note, none of the other window companies pointed this out. He said that the windows are probably under warranty but if we could not get ahold of the installer we should just replace the glass through a glass company as the windows have another 5 years of shelf life. He said we did not need 16 new windows. I had 3 other quotes and all of them said we needed new windows. It is nice in this day and age to find a company that does the right thing and put integrity and good buisiness before a sale. I would never go to anyone else in the future and recommend them to every one I know."

"Thanks to Peter Larkin and All Out Deleading, I was finally able to close out a long, frustrating saga of getting my lead-paint-covered, dilapidated windows replaced, along with some general deleading. Just to summarize, the work was done quickly and professionally and the windows themselves are of high quality, efficient, (Mercury Excelum EOS+) and look good, too! Peter was very responsive and communicated well throughout the process, and never fed me even an ounce of BS. You might have to remember to call him sometimes, but he's always there when you do. I thought the price was very reasonable for the scope of work (about $17k for 25 double glazed windows plus assorted exterior lead abatement, clean up etc) and was definitely lower than some others I found. If you're going crazy figuring out how to navigate Mass lead laws while also getting some actually good windows out of the process, just call Peter and he'll take care of you. Anyway, read on for the saga, if you're interested. I started the process of finding someone to replace my lead-paint-covered windows last September, and let me tell you I have learned a lot more about state lead remediation requirements than I had ever imagined I would. Let me just caution anyone in the same situation that there are two licenses/certifications that a contractor can have, a "lead safe" and an "authorized deleader," and for windows you need the latter if you want to end up with a certificate of deleading. Anyway, after drudging through the state's PDF list of contractors I ended up contacting one lead remediation firm, who strung me along for a few weeks before ghosting me by November. Then I found someone else, got a quote, took measurements, was all set before discovering they didn't have the "authorized deleader" certification, which would have prevented me from getting a certificate of deleading upon subsequent inspection. So I couldn't use them. Finally I called Peter in late February to come by and take a look by early March, which he did. Then Covid-19 happened and the world fell apart just a bit. Long story short, between waiting out the surge here in Mass and general pandemic related delays, we were back on track in the summer for taking measurements and able to order the windows. In the meantime, a crew was sent over to do some of the exterior work like wrapping the sills in aluminum. Peter's crew started the installation process literally the day after the windows arrived, which was the first week of November (storing them in my garage overnight). Be aware that you'll need to be out of the house for the duration of the work. Window delivery was a Thursday, they started work Friday, by Monday the lead inspector was back in, on Tuesday the results were back from the lab, and on Wednesday we were home. I will say that the floors were cleaner then we left them, and the windows looked great. Throughout this process, Peter either picked up the phone every time I called him, or called me back right after. He was always straight and open with me regarding when things were possible, the reason for any delays, and what potential pitfalls were. He was also extremely knowledgeable about government deleading requirements and could walk me through the details, which believe me, is something you want. And in the end when it came time to pay the final installment, there were no surprises. So if you want to save yourself a big confusing hassle and solve your lead paint problem, call Peter Larkin and let him take care of it."

"The day was very long and the two-man crew finished at suppertime after arriving around 8 am on time. They prepped and sprayed and cleaned up. The hose had to go in a second floor window and then up to the third floor for the attic, then down to the basement later. They tried to minimize dirt with lots of floor and stair coverings. You have to accept a certain amount of dirt when you do this, I was very satisfied with their clean-up. <br /> A few days later when I was replacing items behind the knee walls I found a hole that had been missed in the attic -- I could see it and feel the cold air -- and they came back promptly to fill it with hand held spray cans. I was not unhappy at finding the hole -- it was hard to get all the spots around the ducts and could see why a small one got missed. <br /> I paid the bill in full and a few days later had an energy audit done with a blower door test and a thermal camera that pinpoints air leaks in your house. I recommend this highly. It was not intended to find any leaks where the foam was sprayed, but for other areas, however I did find cold air coming in there, so I contacted the company again. The owner himself came by and we went over the job. It resulted in another visit by the crew, the hose to the attic for a much shorter visit this time, and more foam being sprayed at no additional expense to me. They had not done a poor job the first time, I am satisfied about that. But attics are complicated, and I had not understood how air flows, even in a new house (8 years old), so I wanted the foam to be in places they don't ordinarily spray. They complied, and I was happy. <br /> The whole idea was to stop my terrible ice dams. We certainly have the snow to see if it works now. So far so good. I would hire them again. <br />"

"[*** Link removed ***] It was ok. First day the installers arrived almost an hour late. I was told by the sales rep that the installers would clean the area where the windows were removed and also treat for mold if there was any. No mold, but the window areas were not cleaned, and the sills were not cleaned before the perimeters were caulked with silicone. Also, the installers did not clean up after the windows were installed (especially the two windows over the bathtub - debris was left in it). The windows themselves were not cleaned. No stickers removed, etc. I had to do them all and clean the adhesive off left by the stickers. Windows were left smudged & dirty. I tried to clean them myself but could not clean them thoroughly.. I have to assume there is some kind of protective coating on them because no matter what I tried (Goo Be Gone, alchohol, vinegar and finally acetone nail polish remover) I couldn’t get the windows thoroughly clean. Also one of the windows came with a half screen instead of a full screen. That was noted & is being ordered & replaced. I think a manager should come to inspect when the job is completed to make sure that the job was done to specs and that the customer was happy and that the customer is shown how the windows work and removing & replacing the screens. Supposedly there was a 20-Point Installation Review, which I do not remember them doing. And one of the installation crew certainly did not have nearly an average of 15 years of service, only a couple of months on the job. I did reach out to both the sales person and the job supervisor as well as one other rep the day of the job concerning some of these questions and got some help. Hoping that when the rep comes to deliver the screens, he might be able to clean the windows. After all, brand new windows should be brand spanking clean. And check one of the windows which seems to be slightly askew on the top. Overall, I am super happy with the way the windows look. It has transformed my condo from average, to spectacular. Once I get the screen in and the windows cleaned and possibly have the one upper window replaced, all will be perfection."

"This is the second time we hired 1st Choice Home improvement. Our 40 year old kitchen had a damaged kitchen floor and sagging cabinets. After much discussion we decided to call Rich Russell and Paul Nee, contractors, who had been so fantastic to work with when we had our sunroom leak repaired and windows and doors replaced. We wouldn't even call other contractors to compare prices. Rich and Paul may cost a little more but their quality, communication and workmanship is worth every penny! Again, Paul and Rich came down and offered good ideas and suggested we contact a designer they had worked with to assist in our plans. Rich and Paul have a trusted work crew with a gifted craftsman, Milan, who undertook most of the work. We had our old formica sagging cabinets replaced with white wooden cabinets, new blue pearl granite countertops and sink installed, recessed lighting replaced an old tiffany light fixture, the walls and ceiling were painted and an oak hardwood floor was installed to replace old worn out vinyl. The floor installers wove the wood into the hallway so it blends in perfectly. We had our sink moved to the corner so we would have more counter space. Paul and Rich always used quality materials and finished the kitchen with beautiful crown molding and baseboards. They use top notch sub contractors for the electrical, plumbing and floor work. Paul and Rich treated our home as if it were their own. They checked the work and advocated for us, if necessary, every step of the way. Their communication was superb. We could call or email anytime and they answered quickly. Recently we had a family party and received compliments throughout the day. Even the home inspectors who came to evaluate the work for the town admire the kitchen. We wouldn’t hesitate to call 1st Choice Home Improvement for our next home project."

FAQs for new windows service projects in South Walpole, MA

Yes, bay windows add value to a home. They enhance the property by expanding the interior space and flooding rooms with natural light. Their unique three-panel design creates a stunning focal point that elevates curb appeal and modernizes living areas. This architectural detail increases both functional space and visual appeal, directly contributing to higher home resale value.

Yes, all window types have the potential to become part of a bay window configuration when modified correctly. The transformation involves reconfiguring standard windows into a multi-panel design that features a larger central window flanked by smaller ones. This process requires precise professional planning and custom framing to ensure durability, visual balance, and structural integrity.

Bay windows typically consist of three glass panels extending beyond the home's exterior walls, with a larger center panel flanked by two smaller ones. In contrast, bow windows are composed of four to six equally sized glass panels that create a gentle curve and do not extend as far from the exterior walls.

Bay windows cost more than standard windows because their expansive, multi-panel design requires additional materials and skilled labor. Their construction involves extra glass, specialized frame components that extend outward, and complex operating mechanisms. These technical demands necessitate precise engineering and multiple expert installations, thereby significantly increasing both material and labor expenses.

Bay windows cost three times more than standard double-hung windows because their design requires extra panels, expanded framing, and a more complex installation process. The advanced construction method increases material consumption and demands comprehensive expertise, while specialized window treatments further elevate expenses. This all results in a significant difference in overall project cost.
