"This is a follow-up to my original review of February 9, 2017. A new sash was ordered to replace the one in which the glass cracked just after insertion of a window grille pin into the bottom of the sash. Four weeks later, on 3/9/17 a technician arrived and installed a new sash. All went well until he inserted a grille pin into the bottom of the sash -- the glass cracked, again. What are the chances that this could happen twice and with different technicians? Apologies were made and another sash was ordered. Five weeks later, on 4/17/17 the Andersen tech arrived with a new sash, installed it, and fingers crossed, the grill pin was successfully inserted. Yeah! My final assessment is that this small project to replace a bow window with three double-hung windows took far longer from start to finish (Nov. 2016 - Apr. 2017) than was reasonable, even without the grille pin mishaps. I do however, credit Andersen with persistence in bringing this project to satisfactory completion. Service can be a bit of a lengthy process, but they do follow through. I will say again, these replacement windows are beautifully made and energy-efficient. The technicians are professional, courteous and highly skilled."

"I put in a request to replace my mailbox. I was quoted a price of $ 450. Prior to agreeing to pay for the job, I asked the business to give me a breakdown of what I would be paying for the work (I.e. replace the post, pick up materials, disposal of old mailbox, etc.) I did not receive a response after that. I make it a practice not to pay anyone until I see a breakdown of what I’m paying for. While I cannot accuse him of doing so, I did not want a situation in which someone would go out, pick out a mailbox for me, take off the old one, put the new one on the old post and leaving me to deal with the disposal of the old one for $450. Just didn’t work out for me with this contractor."

"Lou and team did an amazing job on our bathroom remodel. Price was very competitive; and the final result was wonderful. Lou made some great recommendations on products/vendors and we ended up with a high quality, beautiful bathroom! We had a few hiccups along the way, but the team responded in a timely manner and took great care in their work. I would definitely hire them again and recommend them to others."

"Brian was great. He called when he was delayed and arrived at the new time when he said he would. He inspected the roof and determined that squirrels had chewed and damaged the lead flashing around the chimney leading to water running down a rafter. He did a repair with silicone to make certain it would not leak and scheduled a time for them to come back to do a permanent repair. <br />"

"Many of the existing window frames were cockeyed with thick paint on the sashes and frames. The workmen were neat, lead-safe, disturbed the existing paint very little and gave us beautifully fitted windows. Now everybody in the house can open windows and have screens. Randy measured twice and completed the work faster than expected. He also was great at discussing window and exterior wrapping options. He helped resolve a lot of questions and came up with a really affordable solution. <br />"

"Company needs all owners of the home there to discuss the work needed to be done,  which is probably a good idea.   I would say this company prefers to do "entire jobs" (ie:  the entire roof, all windows, all gutters, etc.).  The Representative felt it would be too expensive for us to use their company to repair areas within a larger area... (ie:  partial roof damage, only one window replacement, etc.).  We needed several areas to be have work done from the winter ice dam damage and not "complete" areas.   Representative didn't feel the damage on our home was enough to use their company.  He was honest that he didn't want to take the job.     "

"Keith did a great job helping us obtain the building permit, explaining the decking options, and designing the deck. The deck completely covers old concrete steps and makes entrance into our home much easier. Keith used Trex material for the deck, which is maintenance free; he negotiated a good deal with the supplier for the color which closely matched our other deck. He suggested a local electrician for us to consult about lights along the stairs. Keith communicated with us in a timely basis and we always knew his schedule. We would not hesitate to hire Keith again for another project."

"High quality product <br /> Polite and efficient installer <br /> Mistake ordering interior molding that delayed project completion <br /> Inadvertent damage to interior that was not the "responsibility" of Pella that required additional work whose cost was covered by further discount by Pella.   <br /> Also, there's a "ding" on one of the inside window frames - a blemish on the finish that apparently occurred during installation. <br /> This was not my understanding or expectation going into the project. <br />"

FAQs for new windows service projects in Southwick, MA

Yes, bay windows add value to a home. They enhance the property by expanding the interior space and flooding rooms with natural light. Their unique three-panel design creates a stunning focal point that elevates curb appeal and modernizes living areas. This architectural detail increases both functional space and visual appeal, directly contributing to higher home resale value.

Yes, all window types have the potential to become part of a bay window configuration when modified correctly. The transformation involves reconfiguring standard windows into a multi-panel design that features a larger central window flanked by smaller ones. This process requires precise professional planning and custom framing to ensure durability, visual balance, and structural integrity.

Bay windows typically consist of three glass panels extending beyond the home's exterior walls, with a larger center panel flanked by two smaller ones. In contrast, bow windows are composed of four to six equally sized glass panels that create a gentle curve and do not extend as far from the exterior walls.

Bay windows cost more than standard windows because their expansive, multi-panel design requires additional materials and skilled labor. Their construction involves extra glass, specialized frame components that extend outward, and complex operating mechanisms. These technical demands necessitate precise engineering and multiple expert installations, thereby significantly increasing both material and labor expenses.

Bay windows cost three times more than standard double-hung windows because their design requires extra panels, expanded framing, and a more complex installation process. The advanced construction method increases material consumption and demands comprehensive expertise, while specialized window treatments further elevate expenses. This all results in a significant difference in overall project cost.
