"The crew was very experienced and was able to perfectly match the brick on our house, which was built in 1978. They kept us fully informed of progress and ensured that the work area was left spotless. We recommend them highly."

"My daughter was not happy because they started and didn't finish the same day. They kept giving days to come back and didn't. After several promised times they came back to finish. She was not happy with the stamping. She said it looked like the guy got tired at some point. They left equipment and trash in the yard. She was really upset they put random stuff in recycling bin because the city fines you. She was irritated about guests coming for Easter and project was not done by then and having to move stuff so kids did not get to it. Will probably have to get it done or updated again later. She wanted me to give one star, but I did 3 because he apologized, it was a cheap price, and the plain walkway was nice. Stamping is probably not their strong suite and would have just paid extra for real brick. "

"James and his Apex Masonry team did an amazing job adding a beautiful brick porch to the front of our townhome. This is something we've been wanting to have done for a few years but after we saw Apex Masonry complete a couple of similar projects for our neighbors, we were convinced. There were a couple of minor change orders along the way which James kindly incorporated without skipping a beat. Now we have a new living space that we use daily. I'm also grateful to James for his professionalism and kind demeanor. As a Realtor, I'll definitely be recommending his services to my clients, knowing that he will take care of them as he did with us. It would be a huge mistake not to call James first."

"Al Stark, owner of Mr. Handyman (540.748-8622) of Fredericksburg, does a simply amazing job with home repairs. His team of 5 people has experience, expertise, and the work ethic of ‘Get-er done’! Mr. Handyman works on exterior and interior projects and quite honestly no job is either too big or too small. They show up on time, only do the work you want, are fair and reasonable with their price, and very trustworthy. He maintains a class ‘A’ license and holds a FANTASTIC reputation with his community, customers and workforce. When I moved to Alexandria, I inquired if I could hire his team up here, but his franchise boundaries do not permit this – otherwise, I would do it in a heart-beat! Quite honestly, he is the BEST and his team are AWESOME! Multiple contracts..."

"Several rainy days interrupted the install, but when it wasn't raining he was here. Very professional work. Very knowledgeable. Had good assistance (great work ethic). Definitely would use for additional projects. I have had many compliments on the porch since the work was finished. <br />"

"2 years ago leveled existing patio and built new slate landing and four steps down to patio the width of 6 ft sliding door to replace old wood steps.  Patio and steps all done well.  Recently one of the bull nose pavers on the steps become loose.  Mark showed up shortly after I called and noticed the entire row had been moved slightly forward probably due to ice.  Had workers pull entire row of steps out and reset.  All is well.  Responsive, professional, highly recommended if you want good work done well. <br />"

"Everyone in the company was professional and helpful. The only problems encountered were caused by the Prince George's county permit office and the weather. The original proposal was for excavation and external waterproofing. The county required an external French drain, back fill with gravel up to one foot from the surface, and an external sump pump with an external electrical outlet. These extra requirements from the county added about 50% above the estimate to the final total. <br /> The crew spent a few days excavating a narrow trench about three feet wide and down to the basement foundation. We have a back deck and fencing, so some deck and fence posts had to be removed during the work. They patched cracks in the foundation walls, cut back a tree root that was threatening to damage the wall, and added a footer to the bottom edge of the basement walls. <br /> Then waterproofing liquid was applied to the basement walls up to ground level and a heavy rubber-like fabric was hung on the walls. The fence and deck posts were replaced, and the French drain pipe was laid on top of the footer. The French drain pipes led to the sump pump, which was then hooked up to an preexisting downspout drain that was also buried until it reached the front yard. <br /> The project took about three weeks because of weather delays (the project began in early March, and it snowed a couple of times) and because the footer needed to  be added to the foundation. <br /> We had to hire an electrician to install the exterior outlet, so we had to wait another 10 days or so before the county could do the final inspection and approve the permit. Chamberlin Washington was there every step of the way. We couldn't have asked for better support from the owner to the crew members, some of whom worked two weekends to finish the job after unexpected weather delays. <br />"

"In July, our basement was damaged by water from a backed up sump pump, and Jenkins Restorations (specifically, the project manager Jeremy Gaston) helped us every step of the way with restoring our basement to its original condition. His patience and attention to detail in explaining the steps of the repair process and keeping in touch with us throughout the repair made the process easy and stress-free. He made sure we understood the work being done and provided a realistic (and convenient) timeline for its completion, working around our work and recreational plans. Thanks to Jeremy's professionalism and the excellent quality of his team's work on the paint and flooring we were pleased beyond our expectations with the finished product. The basement is even better than before. <br />"

FAQs for brick or stone siding: install or completely replace projects in Spotsylvania, VA

Brick siding offers numerous advantages, including high durability and resistance to harsh weather conditions, requiring minimal maintenance and lasting for generations. It provides natural insulation, enhancing energy efficiency by regulating indoor temperatures year-round. Brick is fire-resistant, improving home safety, and reduces external noise for a quieter indoor environment. Its timeless aesthetic appeal boosts curb appeal and can increase your home's resale value.

Yes, you can add brick to an existing house. One option is to remove the current siding and install full brick masonry, which involves laying traditional bricks with mortar for a solid brick exterior. Alternatively, you can opt for brick veneer siding, a thinner layer of real or manufactured brick applied over the existing structure. Brick veneer is typically more affordable and easier to install while still providing the aesthetic benefits of brick. Both methods can enhance your home's appearance and value.

Yes, installing brick siding often provides a significant return on investment. With an average ROI of around 77%, and some returns exceeding 80%, brick siding enhances curb appeal, energy efficiency, and longevity, making your home more attractive to potential buyers and potentially increasing resale value.

Brick siding is known for its exceptional longevity, often lasting over 100 years when properly maintained. Regular maintenance, like repointing mortar joints, ensures its durability over time. Brick veneer, while thinner than full brick masonry, is durable and can last up to 50 years or more with proper care. Both options offer long-lasting protection and value for your home.

When choosing brick siding, consider your budget, as costs can vary depending on brick type and installation method. Also, consider your desired aesthetic; different bricks offer various colors, textures, and styles to complement your home's architecture. Installation time and complexity are factors, with options like brick veneer being quicker and less labor-intensive than full brick masonry. Additionally, assess the maintenance requirements and durability to select the best option for your long-term needs.

Alternatives to brick siding include vinyl siding, which is cost-effective and low-maintenance and offers a variety of colors and styles. Wood siding provides a natural, classic look but requires more upkeep to prevent weather damage. Fiber cement siding is durable and can mimic the appearance of wood or masonry without the high maintenance. Each alternative has its own advantages, so consider factors like budget, aesthetics, and maintenance when making your choice.
