"The team came out to do a retaining wall for me, they got the entire project done (along with some tree removal) in about 2 days. They were really professional, and the machine set block they use looks great and at a great price!"

"Dirt Dude called immediately, providing a quote over the phone then coming out right after a job where he was working in the extreme heat all day to offer a more accurate quote. His work ethic is impeccable and went above and beyond being sure my requests were completed and I was over the top. He finished the job in the time frame he stated. He did not charge me more than the quote we agreed on. The crew consisted of one. Amazing job. Highly recommended. God blessed your life. Thank you again and again. "

"Stars and Stripes gives an estimate prior to service and schedules in a very timely manner. They work with your business schedule to make it convenient for customers so we donâ t have to close. The lot looks great the striping is very clean and nice looking. They are top notch and very professional and friendly to work with!!! We have hired them 3 times now and have never been disappointed with the quality of service and work. They even came out to touch up a corner that accidentally had a boat left in the lot after the boat was moved! Not all companies would do that!!! Thank you for your quality service!! "It was a difficult job and they had to dig up the openings. The service was very professional and he installed receivers at a very good price so digging would not be an issue in the future. Their front office staff is very responsive, the service was excellent. I would give them my highest recommendation."

"I contacted Greenscape AND PAID before summer 2019. Kept getting postponed. Didn't sprinkle grass seed until October. Was all washed away with rain. They promised to plant Butter Bur did not have enough to fulfill what was promised. The area had very, very few plants. When I complained they came out the following year and sprinkled VERY FEW grass seeds - very few germinated. I was extremely disappointed in the job that was done and have tried repeatedly to discuss a remedy. First text was answered with the nasty comment that I was the worst customer they ever had. Now they refuse to answer my texts or phone calls. Just giving everyone a warning here. Contemplating Better Business Bureau."

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Spring Lake, MI

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
