Copper would have meant having to dig up more yard, and several solder joints along the way. They have a great process where the only dig at the meter and at the house. I watched them do it and it was pretty cool. They have an attachment that they use that slices through the old line while guiding the new line through it underground. No digging a 200 foot trench through my yard. They kept my yard clean, even going so far as to put the top layer of grass back so it hardly looked like anything had been done.
