The technician took one look at the broken spring and immediately saw that whoever changed springs the last time didnâ t put in the right size for my door! (I cannot remember who changed them previously, except it was NOT Patâ s!) The old springs were about 6â shorter than the correct ones which Patâ s installed. He said that garage springs usually last about 12 years under normal use. The wrong ones had failed after only 4 years or so!
