"Mr. Leopold was the 4th company I contacted. As part of the items we needed to fix for the sale of our home, we needed someone to install a chimney cap and inspect the area around it, as there was a small plant growing out of it. The first company came and did an inspection and said the entire area around the chimney cap needed to be redone, as well as a new flue, at a cost of $2800. Second company never showed. Third company said he wouldn't come out unless I agreed to install a chimney cap that cost $350. Finally read the reviews on Angie's List for Leopold Chimney and while I played telephone tag with Mr. Leopold for a few days, he was extremely responsive.  He came out, installed a new chimney cap, and sealed some minor cracks around the area. <br /> Very professional and trustworthy and I highly recommend this contractor. <br />"

We had used them once before for chimney cap, and the work there was good. They came out as scheduled and finished the work in a few hours. "The company came out within a few days of my call. Mark T inspected and cleaned the chimney (which wasn't that dirty, as it turned out), and took pictures of the metal stack and the exterior of the fireplace stack. They recommended replacing the 4 refractory panels for approximately $1800. They pointed out warping on the metal stack, which he said might not be an immediate problem but would need to be addressed at some point as it would just continue to get worse. He also said that the chase cover at the top, exterior of the fireplace stack should be replaced. I got a second and third opinion. Both those providers said that the refractory panels are cosmetic only since the entire firebox is metal, and that the price would probably be about $400, not $1800. They also looked at the photos provided by Complete Chimney, and said that the 'warping' that Mark T pointed out was not warping...just normal coloration of the stack and not an issue. They said the chase cover was rusting, but not falling apart and was not any kind of safety hazard. while this company did the initial cleaning I requested, I feel like they were trying to push me to see problems where none existed in the hope that I would have them install a new gas fireplace."

"Prouty did a great job on the chimney liners and ultimately the chimney cap repair. I rated them a C on responsiveness and professionalism specifically for an issue related to finishing the chimney cap in April when the weather conditions allowed for the repair. We financed the project over a six month period. I had requested that they provide pictures of the finished work including the chimney cap. Other companies we have used in the past provide before and after pictures. However, we were told that because they had already completed the chimney cap repair, they would not return to take pictures. It wasn't until we withheld the final payment that they agreed to return and provide pictures; only to find out that the work had not been completed. They were apologetic about the error in the paperwork, but I can't help thinking if we had not withheld the final payment, we would have been unaware that the repair had not been completed. I believe I would hire them again, but would have to make sure to verify the completed work."
