"Our water heater started leaking on a Sunday. I waited til Monday morning to start calling plumbers. I wanted a hot water heater with heat pump that would be eligible for a $750 rebate thru Energize CT. Fred was not familiar with the program, but made a few calls to gather info, called me to discuss and then ordered the unit which was delivered later that day. Unit was installed next morning. Fred was great to deal with, communicated with me throughout the process & did a fantastic job. I even asked for a quote to install a sink in my basement. I highly recommend him to anyone in need of plumbing services."

"I made an appointment to get some work done on my car.  They were very attentive when I arrived first thing in the morning, and made the car hand off very easy.  They walked me through some options for the services I wanted to get done, and they gave me prices for it all.  I left it there, and took off for work.  They were able to complete the work, and it was ready for pick up when I got out of work.  That's about all I can ask for out of a mechanic.  Would definitely use them again. <br />"

"Chose them as the lowest cost of 3 bids for the job.  They showed up on time, completed the job quickly and without issue.  Quality appears good but I admit I know nothing about chimneys.  Was impressed that they went out of their way to find a brickyard with a close match to my existing chimney. <br />"

"<p>Working with propane requires extra safety; only certified propane technicians can do the work and the Town requires preliminary and final inspections for safety.  The extra safety increases the cost; my project cost $634.38.</p> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <p>The Osterman Propane Service Department didn?t call my Town inspector to learn my Town?s building codes for installing a copper gas line in a brick chimney; my Town inspector needed a PVC sleeve in the brick chimney for the gas line.  The installation Osterman Propane Service Department did failed inspection and had to be done again. </p> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <p>The Osterman Propane Service Department didn?t ask my Town inspector when he works; my Town inspector only answers calls on Tuesday and Thursday.  The Osterman Propane Service Department ?do-over? took an extra month of time. </p> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <p> I expected the Osterman Propane Service Department to take responsibility for the project schedule.  Osterman didn?t apologize for making a mistake and they didn?t make any special effort to catch up on lost time.  They stopped answering telephone calls and started communicating with incomplete emails.</p> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <p>The Osterman Propane technicians didn?t wear shoe booties when they came into my house.  They made a mess that I had to clean up.</p> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <p>I think Osterman Propane needs to step up their customer service.</p> <br />"

"The project was being performed in two stages - day 1 was removal of the existing coil in the furnace, old lines and old condenser, and installing the new lines and condenser.  The next day, day 2, called for installation of the condenser and testing the system. <br />   <br /> The first day's work was botched.  The installation performed, to quote the company's own sales engineer, Ted Forcier, was "appalling".  The new Carrier coil unit had been scratched and dented, the duct work to the furnace had been cut with a sawz-all, with jagged-rough, not straight cuts, and had gapping holes.  I called Ted after seeing this installation upon my returning home from work that evening.  He said that he would take care of it, and I did email him photos that evening.  I received the following note from Ted at 6:20 am the next day <em>"Now I understand the tone of your voice last night. The workmanship the pictures show is appalling. I will remedy this immediately. " </em>Ted stood behind his word.  When I returned home that evening a new coil had been properly installed, damaged duct work replaced with new, the new Carrier condenser in place and running.  Really and "night and day" experience.   <br /> <br /> What bothered me is that during the second day of this project when the revisions and full installation was being made, I did not receive any progress update calls from the company. They have an installation manager who really should have been on top of the matter and in contact with me.   I had placed a call to the Northup's office mid afternoon and was assured that the company's Vice-President Linda Northup would return my call - this never occurred.  I did hear from Ted very late in the day saying that he had been to my house, and indicated that everything was corrected with some minor adjustments he saw being attended to. <br /> <br /> Ted followed up two days later and meet me early morning at my house to see if anything was needed - the system had been running now for 2 days operation.  The only outstanding issue shared with Ted is that the installers didn't leave any of the owners manuals, warranty cards and other misc Carrier documentation.  I was told this would be mailed to me. <br /> <br /> While no one has explained why the installer on the first day left the job the way he did, the company did correct matters and in the end performed what visually appears to be a good installation.  I do feel this correction was made only due to my outreach to their sales engineer who did diligently ensure corrective actions would be taken after seeing the photos I emailed.  I've rated the company and A in responsiveness due to Ted's involvement.  However their VP should get a lesser grade for never returning my call. <br />"

FAQs for gas piping projects in Staffordville, CT

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
