"Justin came over put in a new 2 new sinks and a drain on my kitchen sink. He also hooked up the water to my new fridge. And I was shocked when I asked him about coming back to check my furnace, he said he will do it right now and only 45 min later he had installed a new control box. And my furnace was running! I would call him again in a heartbeat. Top-notch!"

"The sprayer in my kitchen sink started to leak – the tubing was cut and could not be repaired. I obtained the replacement part from Lowe’s. I called Rudi the Plumber for installation. The phone was answered promptly and in a courteous and friendly manner. They were able to fit me in the same day which was excellent news. Norm did the work quickly, and the replacement part works fine.

Norm also took the time to briefly discuss with me some plumbing work for a near future bathroom remodel. He’s down to earth and easy to talk to. "

"Was a very tough job as the pipe was in a very tight spot. She had to call for additional pieces to be delivered. The job took approximately 5 hours. The only reason I'm giving it an overall B was the cost. Be warned that if the job runs past 4:30 you are charged an overtime rate. I unfortunately was told about 1/2 hour before she would get into Overtime and it was a job that had to be done since we only have one bathroom in our house. They also charge you from the time they leave the warehouse. Their prices are higher for labor than others. So if price is no big deal to you, I highly recommend. However, if price matters, I wouldn't recommend."

FAQs for gas piping projects in Standish, ME

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
