"We needed 2 stop valves replaced on our galvanized pipe plumbing. The plumber arrived on time, performed the job quickly, and left the place clean. The only downside was the cost was more than quoted, so make sure to get an accurate quote by providing enough information, or expect to pay a little more than quoted."

"Great work, these guys know their business. I did not think it would go so quickly and "easily" (for me) but they re-piped my house in a day. That was 3 years ago, and it has held up great. They were on time, tidy, did what they promised and gave me plumbing I can be confident about. Now over the holidays we had a plumbing issue, a small leak in an old pipe out near the meter, and they came out today and repaired it, digging when its in the 30's outside. Now that I have new pipes stem to stern from Global plumbing I can rest easy. I so appreciate that they are plumbers I can rely on."

"Two weeks earlier we had Washington Plumbing and Heating clear a clogged toilet soil pipe after our housecleaner lost a sponge down the toilet.  The charge was $196 including tax and standard service-call fee.  The job was apparently done successfully, but the toilet again became clogged a few days ago.  We called again to make another unclogging appointment.  The technician arrived on time, unclogged the toilet with more robust equipment, and -- without any evidence that the two clogs were related, refused any payment -- not even a tip! <br>"

"It took a while to get our schedules aligned, but once we did Ed showed up on time and did a great job. It was his suggestion to bring the shut off valve into the pantry for easy access. The old shut off required crawling under the house about 10 feet to get to it. He also had a better idea for the heater overflow than another vendor (NW Plumbing) and at a fraction of their quote. We did end up with a very minor leak at the shut off valve, but Ed is taking care of it. <br /> We highly recommend hiring Ed for any plumbing you need. <br />"

"GPS Plumbing tried finding the pipe. Spent a couple of hours digging. Then called for leak detectors to come and refine location (there had been a deck in the way in first round). After discussing leak location with leak detection person, but without observing the newly marked location for the leak, GPS Plumbing indicated they thought the leak was closer in the tree roots, GPS Plumbing quoted more than $1000 more than original quote to bore a new route for 25' new water line. The painted location by the leak detectors was further away, leading me to not think kindly of GPS Plumbing's motives. I balked at the new quote and they refused to do any more work to just repair leak. They did not charge for the work already done. Skip forward to after work performed by 2nd plumber. Leak was finally found further into the tree roots, but not fixable due to age of plastic pipe used and lack of availability of fittings. 2nd plumber also recommended new line requiring trenching. Because of location of trench and trees in the area, the total cost of doing that repair will exceed the cost of boring quoted by GPS Plumbing. The biggest disconnect between my understanding of the situation an the reality of this 55+ year old water line is that I had repaired a leak (15+ years ago) in the line feeding this section and had replaced a section of plastic line between the gate valve and a section of copper pipe diving further into the ground. Thus I thought the line between there and where it enters the house was copper and should have gone about where the leak detection folks had marked on the ground. It turns out the copper pipe I connected to in repairing that old leak only went down about a foot and connected to another plastic pipe that went further from the house before going under the tree roots. So, I am revising my review of GPS Plumbing. Overall grade at this point of B, because the communications could have been handled better. I will leave another review after the work is finished."

FAQs for gas piping projects in Sumner, WA

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
