"We are very happy with the work done on our remodeled bathrooms. Patrick and his assistant Mick proved to be very skilled craftsmen. We had a wide variety of projects for them to complete and they did them all in a professional and timely manner. They both have great communication skills as well. Patrick's response time to any questions we had was amazing. After you meet Patrick and work with him, it is very easy to tell that he really cares about his customers. He truly wants everyone to be satisfied with the work that Happy to Help did. We wouldn't hesitate to hire them again."

"We contacted them and they repaired the hole and also put in a drain tile.  There was a question about whether there was another source of water leak and they came back to test the integrity of our foundation and found that everything was ok.  <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Sometimes there was a delay in getting a call back from them and a delay in having them come to do the work.  When they did come, the work was done well."

"Work was finally completed mid October. Hometown came out in July and did an a measure of the windows needing repair and located the Semco brand and Mfg.  There were some initial delays given they had to order the windows and wait for shipment from Semco. Perfectly understandable.   Once the windows arrived they scheduled an initial team to come out to install the 2 windows.  But this team appeared to have come unprepared and complained no one in their office told them the bay window was on a second floor and they needed scaffolding to install.   They left and took both windows with them back to their office.    <br /> Regarding the casement sash, as it turns out, it had been redesigned by the Mfg and the first Hometown install  team indicated it would need to either go back or require a custom retrofit.  The casement windows are approx 18 yrs old. About a week later  I received a call from Hometown that the window would only need a new type of weather strip and that would solve the issue with the design change.  <br /> I had asked the first team to make sure I could get the sash ahead of time before the install, in order for me to prime and paint the interior portion.  Unfortunately,  that communication didn't take place and I never was able to pre-finish the sash.  <br /> As it urns out when the weather stripping finally did arrive for the sash, a different  team came out, to install the 2  windows  without scaffolding and I raised a concern when I asked this.   However, the 2nd team said it wasn't necessary and  was able to easily fit the bay window glass  in place and indicated the initial team should have done earlier when the bay window was available and I was waiting for the new weather stripping.   <br /> All in all the work done was good and the 2 windows are now in place.  I'm  waiting for the first very cold day to confirm the casement is sealing properly.  I'm sure if I do have an issue, HomeTown will help find a solution.     I think this was just a case of  miscommunication by the initial team of installers and their office <br />"

"It went great! Mark was very professional and honest in terms of his scheduling. Even though I realized after talking with him that this was really a much smaller job than he was used to doing, he went ahead with it nevertheless. There were a few weeks in between while we waited for the new cabinet to come in. Even though we insisted on paying him something for his time and trouble, I think he would have done it simply as a favor. This is especially remarkable since we had never met! It's very refreshing to find someone like that who is also a skilled craftsman. We would most definitely hire Mark again, and would highly recommend him to others."

FAQs for door or window screens install or repair projects in Sun Prairie, WI

Most off-the-shelf screens come in fixed sizes, ranging from 18 inches by 20 inches to 36 inches by 74 inches, which fit the vast majority of residential windows. If your opening falls outside that range or has a unique shape, you’ll need a custom screen built to the exact measurements. Going custom ensures a secure fit, a solid barrier against bugs, and a clean, finished look.

The decision to repair or replace your screen depends on the extent of the damage. Small holes or tears in otherwise solid mesh can be patched, and a sturdy frame usually doesn’t need to go anywhere. However, once the frame is bent or the mesh is brittle and fraying in several spots, replacement becomes a more sensible option—and often proves to be less costly in the long run. Take a close look at both parts before making a decision.

To rescreen a window, start by prying out the old spline, then lift the torn mesh from the frame. Lay the new screen over the frame, allowing about an inch of excess on all sides, and hold it in place while pressing fresh spline into the groove with a roller. Check that the mesh is taut—many pros rest a small brick on it while they work—then trim the overhang with a utility knife.

Most window screens last for 10 to 12 years. Time, sun, and weather gradually make the mesh brittle, so you’ll start to see sagging, rips, or thinning spots that let bugs get through. Check the screens each season; if the mesh crumbles or the frame warps, it’s time to replace them to keep air flowing and pests outside.

Most pros can swap out a screen in 10 minutes to an hour. A quick pop‑in replacement goes fastest, while fitting new mesh into an existing frame or working on a hard‑to‑reach upper window adds time. Either way, plan for at least a few extra minutes per screen so the installer can verify the fit and ensure the spline is seated correctly.
