"We had a garage built 2 years ago and were having issues with the door jamming as it closed, obviously in need of adjustment. We called Bill Weier at Foothills Garage Door Service. Bill said he'd be there the next day between 1:30-2. He was there promptly at 1:40 the following day. I showed him the issue we were having and he immediately set to work making the necessary adjustments to the door track. Within 15 minutes the door was operating better than when it was originally installed by the builder! Bill was there for about half an hour. I asked what I owed him and he said "no charge". How often do you hear that?? When I insisted to pay him he said this was his third "no charge" stop of the day! I can't recommend Bill Weier highly enough and will certainly call him for any further garage door issues. If you need a door installed, replaced, repaired or just adjusted, please give Bill a call at Foothills Garage Door Service. You won't be disappointed! BTW, he's retired Navy. Give him a call for your garage door needs. What better way to thank him for his service?!"

"Excellent service. Michael was great. Worked very efficiently and clean. I made contact with 3 companies. Smoky Mountain carried the opener I wanted and installed it the morning after I called them. The other 2 couldn t be here for several days because they didn t carry the opener I wanted. I highly recommend Smoky Mountain Garage Door Service"

"Really quick at installing 2 garage door openers for me. I was impressed, One required removal of existing garage door and the other was a new install. Showed up on time (as he did for the estimate as well) and got the job done very efficiently. Happy with the results. You won't go wrong if the hire them."

"Duncan came to do the job of putting new garage door openers on doors. Right on time, very polite and when I discovered the next day one of the openers was not working properly he came out almost immediately to check it and then the next day came early with a new part to repair the opener."

"I pay a monthly fee to CHW for insurance against equipment failure. Over a month ago CHW sent a repair technician to fix both of my garage doors, the technician made an adjustment on one door and chanced the opener on the other. A week or so ago the second door failed to open. Yes, my door opener is old, but the Warrantee says, if it can’t be fixed it will be replaced. CHW paid the tech $100 and said the rest $200 is on me. Please tell me why I should stay with CHW if I have to pay 2/3rds of the cost to replace the door opener? On a separate issue: Granted I accepted CHW’s offer of a Lowe’s card to replace my dishwasher, because I was unaware of how much dishwashers sell for, it cost me an additional 300. Again, please give me a reason for staying with CHW"

"AHS is ok. They cover repairs of most everything under the roof of your house. The companies that contract with them are not always the best. You call AHS with the issue, they send a fax to the repair company and give you the contact info. If they don't contact you within 24 hours, you call them. Sometimes they answer, sometimes they don't. When they arrive (usually three days or so later), they service the item. if it has issues within the 90 days, you call AHS again, they are sent out with no charge. If the serviceman decides the unit is unrepairable, AHS will allow you to choose a replacement from their listing (usually not as good as what you have) they will install and remove your old item, or give you wholesale amount to buy and install your own. Prices vary on what you want covered and what you want the copay to be, plus where you live. For me it is 49.99 per month with a 75.00 time of service order. You can have more than one item serviced at the same time under the same fee. If you have a SEAR product the repair guys are great. Not that wild about the other ones they send out. But it is a big savings compared to calling someone on your own. The cost of service is only the 75.00 copay."

FAQs for garage door opener repair or adjustment projects in Townsend, TN

Garage door costs range somewhat broadly, depending on the type you choose. However, you’ll also need to factor in labor costs, which vary from state to state and between pros.

A chain driven operator costs between $150 - $250. For a belt driven operator it is usually $160 - $450. A screw-driven operator is between $250-$500.

To keep garage door opener repair costs down, you should check that the whole apparatus is working normally on a regular basis. This means making sure that the tracks of your door are greased and fully operational, and that the door itself is in good condition.

Installing a new garage door opener runs from $250 to $500 at least. If your repair costs are close in cost to that range or if your garage door is 10 to 15 years old, you should probably replace it instead of repair.

However, it’s a better idea to fix your garage door opener if it’s less than eight years old or if repair costs are less than replacing.

Garage door openers usually last between 10 and 15 years. However, several factors contribute to how long your garage door opener can last. If you schedule regular inspections and practice proper care, you can maximize your garage door opener’s lifespan, saving money in the long run. As a general rule, practice the same care for your garage door opener as you would the door itself.

These tell-tale signs indicate your garage door is going bad, including:

  • Not closing or opening at all

  • The door reversing when you try to open and/or close it

  • Inconsistent opening and closing; more noise than usual (grinding, scraping, or banging)

  • Sticking or stalling when you try to open or close it

If you experience one or more of these signs, it’s time to call a professional garage door repair service.
