"I first hired Brite Electric to upgrade my outdoor service panel about 1 month ago. My house was built in the 1950's and the panel needed work. Their price was great and their work was top notch. All of their work passed City of SA Inspections with no problem. I have used other electricians in the past and just was not happy with work/customer service. Brite Electric is a 5 star company. Great work and great customer service. I will be using Brite Electric for more electrical work during my remodel."

"Allgood is a great electric company. The gentlemen sent to work on installation and upgrading panels did a terrific job. They were professional, focused, polite, and most informative as they worked. Their pricing was exactly what I thought it should be, which was great. I have a new list of items I want them to work on. Can't wait."

"We hired Thundercolt Electric to upgrade our outdated electrical inside & outside panels, rewire old dryer power line, added outside plugs etc and Mr. Cruz pulled permits from CPS Energy & City prior to start of work. Mr Cruz and his crew were very responsible, respectful , honest and always on time. Mr. Cruz kept us informed of progress of work and answered any questions we had during project. Thundercolt Electric had the most reasonable price compared to several other quotes. We would definitely hire them for future jobs."

"Robert with all R electrical was awesome. He arrived on time and after a short discussion on my electrical issues I was having in my garage he went thru my breaker panels and was able to give me an estimate on the repairs and corrections that I needed to restore the service. Upon my onsite approval he made the repairs and corrected some wiring to prevent future failures in my system. He offers total communication with his clients and explained why I needed those repairs. I highly recommend All R Electrical to anyone checking these reviews and will definitely refer them to friends and family. I even received a follow up call a couple days later from them to check on any possible issues I might be having, all good here!"

"The project was to check the breaker box due to breakers tripping frequently. No new wiring was required, they replaced the breakers for me. Brian was on time (actually a bit early), very pleasant, and answered any questions that I had. It was quick and easy to setup an appointment with Allgood Electric. I will definitely be calling them back for any other issues."

"Very dependable and on time. Very satisfied with the quality of work. Didn't just put a band aid on the issue but did extensive troubleshooting and fixed it right. This is an old house and he had to make three fixtures work from incorrectly wired wall switches in an old house, added four ceiling can-lights and run new wire, and install a couple of smart wall light switches in a hard to replace location. The ceiling lights are great and really made a difference in our living room."

"Outstanding communication and very professional service. I would highly recommend Mr. Electric. Received both e-mails and texts on appointment to include a photo and short bio of the actual electrician (Brad Mason) who would be doing the work. Wish all home service providers did the same. Brad was on time (actually a few minutes early). He installed 30AMP breaker and associated RV plug in our garage. To avoid any sheetrock repairs it was necessary for him to drop the line to the house electric panel through a wall with foam insulation, with very limited head/body clearance for him to work. No mess left behind from the actual plug installation on another wall."

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Universal City, TX

While homeowners with substantial electrical knowledge might technically attempt a subpanel installation, most local building departments require permits and inspections for this type of work. Professional electricians understand local code requirements, can obtain necessary permits, and ensure the installation meets safety standards. Given the significant safety risks associated with incorrect electrical work, most homeowners benefit from hiring a licensed professional.

A standard subpanel installation takes an average of four to eight hours. This timeframe may extend if you're installing multiple subpanels or adding specialized circuits like those for spa equipment. Factors such as difficult access points, complex wiring paths, or permit processing times can also affect the overall project duration.

Adding a subpanel doesn't directly reduce electricity consumption or lower your utility bills. A subpanel simply redistributes power from your main panel to additional circuits. However, organizing your electrical system more efficiently may help prevent overloaded circuits and the associated problems. For actual cost savings, consider energy-efficient appliances and lighting instead.

The appropriate subpanel size depends on your specific electrical requirements. Consider the number and type of devices you'll be powering, potential future needs, and the capacity of your main electrical panel. An electrician can perform a load calculation to determine the most suitable amperage rating for your situation, ensuring you have adequate power without overpaying for unnecessary capacity.

A main electrical panel connects directly to your utility's power supply and contains your home's primary service disconnect. It distributes electricity throughout your entire house. A subpanel, by contrast, receives power from the main panel and redistributes it to a specific area of your home. Think of the main panel as the primary distribution point and the subpanel as a secondary branch that extends your electrical system's reach.

While electrical upgrades aren't as immediately visible as kitchen or bathroom renovations, they can contribute to your home's functionality and safety. Prospective buyers often appreciate updated electrical systems that can accommodate modern power demands. A properly installed subpanel that provides additional capacity for workshops, home offices, or future expansions could be an attractive feature for certain buyers, though the direct impact on home value varies by market.
