"We hired Forever Green 2 Landscaping to regrade and install new grass after an in ground pool install. The yard was a mess! But then we hired Oscar and his team to rescue our backyard. These guys did an outstanding job on our backyard!!! Forever Green 2 Landscaping definitely has the heavy equipment to do any landscaping job. Professional, prompt and precise! Oscar’s crew was alway courteous and professional. Their prices were much better than the competition. We will definitely call Oscar and crew for our next outdoor project!"

"Ron and his crew showed up when he said he would, and cleaned up at the end of the day really well!!! They did a great job replacing the sidewalk and stairs to my front porch. I now have a sidewalk with a slope up to my front porch that is easily walked up to the front porch or down! I was very pleased with Texas Total Landscape!!!"

"I can not recommend this company. Job performance was poor, & not completed as expected. Owner had to be called to return to finish the job, a long drawn out process. The only positive, was a nice sidewalk. Workers did not seem to have respect for my property, when they left part of garden decorations moved & not replaced. Sloopy concrete work. owner Job site was not cleaned up. Workers seem to have little respect for my property. The only positive outcome was a nice sidewalk I had requested. "

"I found this company on Angie's List, and the reviews were correct. This is a great company and Matt and Chris were both really helpful when I called about not knowing how much or what kind of soil to order. We got it and quot;figgeredand quot; out, made the appointment, and the morning of delivery, Chris called to let me know they were on their way. <br /> Boy was my nephew surprised at how much 7 1/2 yards of soil amounts to! <br /> It is really excellent soil for tired lawns. I can't wait to watch it green up. <br />"

"This job was a disaster from the get-go when we first received bids in January 2014 to when we finished on September 18.  The end result turned out to be ok thanks to Luke's Asphalt for completing the asphalt repairs and to Texas Parking Lots for completing the seal coating.   Our HOA members are happy with the over all job.  I would not hesitate to call Luke's Asphalt or Texas Parking lots in the future. <br />"

"Allied Outdoor Solutions installed a paver patio for us. It is awesome and they were awesome. I’m not sure if we got lucky or if all their crews are as good as ours was. Carlos, Jeremy and Javier nailed it. They worked very hard, paid attention to detail and were super nice and polite. Also, during the COVID-19 stay-at-home order, Carlos proactively communicated with us regarding delays and rescheduling, reassuring us that we would be a priority as soon as they were able to work on site again (and kept his word during a challenging time). We would definitely go with Allied Outdoor Solutions again! Lester & Merryl Carson Fort Worth, TX"

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Universal City, TX

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
