"Provider was not prepared for the amount of calls this "Deal" would generate and it became impossible to even leave a message.  He did work with email through Angie's list which became our only point of contact.  I'm becoming increasingly frustrated with offers thru the list as they seem to offer very little service and yet are billed as the Big Deal.  Service technician was on time.  He seemed very tired of having to explain how little a "toilet tune up" entailed.  Basically, if you had a loose screw somewhere, he would tighten it--that seemed to be it.  I was fine because eventually he told me what the strange sound I was hearing in my toilet was and that was worth the service call to me.  Probably will not be purchasing another "Big Deal" anytime soon as I'm perfectly capable of wielding a wrench or screwdriver myself.

"After an initial miscommunication about which Mr. Handyman franchise serviced my location (Pt. Loma), my experience with this company was fantastic. Owner John Schmidt responded to my emails quickly and went out of his way to get the job done when I needed it done and for the initial price quoted. Even though his company doesn't work on Saturdays, because of the initial confusion, he offered to do the job for me on a Saturday, knowing that I was on a tight schedule. Not many companies will do that! It's also worth mentioning that my first interaction with this company was with the owner of the other franchise, Nenette Agulto. I was also very impressed by her responsiveness and professionalism. As for the actual work, the contractor Dennis showed up on time and completed the work in the time promised, and cleaned up well. Overall, I'm very happy with this experience. Will definitely use again."

"I bought an Angie's list deal for dry wall repair but really they just spread some spackle on it and left it rough. I had to scrape off the blobs of spackle left on the ceiling. My boyfriend could have done the same job. I wanted them to actually replace the dry wall where it was cracking. Mainly they wanted to sell me more jobs and pushed me to sign on with them to get new insulation in the attic. I had them give me an estimate on rain gutters while they were here. Their estimate/prices are very high. I think they have to pay for all those people manning the phones. It sounds like a boiler room when they call."

"AHS is ok. They cover repairs of most everything under the roof of your house. The companies that contract with them are not always the best. You call AHS with the issue, they send a fax to the repair company and give you the contact info. If they don't contact you within 24 hours, you call them. Sometimes they answer, sometimes they don't. When they arrive (usually three days or so later), they service the item. if it has issues within the 90 days, you call AHS again, they are sent out with no charge. If the serviceman decides the unit is unrepairable, AHS will allow you to choose a replacement from their listing (usually not as good as what you have) they will install and remove your old item, or give you wholesale amount to buy and install your own. Prices vary on what you want covered and what you want the copay to be, plus where you live. For me it is 49.99 per month with a 75.00 time of service order. You can have more than one item serviced at the same time under the same fee. If you have a SEAR product the repair guys are great. Not that wild about the other ones they send out. But it is a big savings compared to calling someone on your own. The cost of service is only the 75.00 copay."

"The service was amazingly fast and complete. The dryer wasn't producing any hot air. I requested quotes on Angie's List and quickly received a call from Bek at So Cal Appliance Repair. Fortunately, he was working another job locally. Within the hour, he was at our house and within another 30 minutes he identified the problem, had the parts on hand and completed the repair. Within 2 hours after I requested quotes, the dryer was fixed. Never had that happen before....ever. I highly recommend Beck. He's knowledgeable, personable and his prices are very reasonable."
