"We have a 30' section of fence that needs to be moved and replaced. Many fence companies wouldn't come out for any project less than 75'. Phoenix Fence & Deck was willing to do the project, their estimated was prompt and courteous, the bid was competitive. We would have hired them, but unexpected financial issues emerged, and we can't go forward with the project at this time. Everything about them expressed professionalism, quality and reasonableness"

"Dillons Power Washing Jason, Again - Thank You for the Excellent job that you did on our house in 2016. April 2017, You are “greatly appreciated” for all your extensive time and knowledge you have spent trying to solve/correct our damage from the Feb 25th hail/tornado storm and marring to the finish on our vinyl house siding. You certainly have educated us on the proper cleaning agents/chemicals that you used so the finish on the vinyl would not be streaked/damaged further nor our decking/landscaping. Unfortunately, as you initially stated, power washing would not work as the insurance company said would be the repair solution and their guide lines >> a total waste of time and money but had no choice in the matter. And you continue to follow up with us and stay in touch on any progress we have made. Again, you have proven that you continuously go above and beyond in work ethics/quality and customer satisfaction. I’m very hesitant on referring companies to my many clients but without a doubt you have earned my trust. You are definitely worth any wait if need be to schedule your company’s service!! Much Thanks, Judy Tremblay"

"They responded quickly to my inquiry phone call. They had an affordable and reasonable price and were able to come out right away, so we decided to give them a try. The guys were very efficient in getting set up, offered to help me move some items on my screened in porch and helped encourage the kids to clear the area before they started. They moved anything away from the house that could be damaged. They did a great job - my house looks so nice and clean! We will definately have them come back again when we need the house pressure washed in the future. Great Job Advanced Pressure Washing! <br />"

"Absolutely fabulous! He called the day after I booked it online with Angie's Lisa and came out that very day. I gave him a few specific instructions and they were followed to the letter! This is the best job in all the 27 years I've lived in my home. No one will be disappointed by his work. He's excellent. He even gave great advice about my deck and recommended I wait a year or more before doing any cleaning or staining. That's integrity!"

"While we initially went in for their free consultation to have a pavilion with fire place and stone work, they pitched a landscape plan for our entire property. We loved their design plan and they worked with us very well. Bill is a great guy and pleasure to work with. While we had a few quotes from other contractors, we chose Sharper Cuts. Overall work performed was very good. We had some concerns with grouting not filling pavers completely, but they came back to take care of this issue. Still, areas were still not done. Some of the flagstone tops used were not high quality with rust prevalent. Perhaps their supplier was the issue. They replaced inferior slabs. Plantings were good, but not great with some plants dying and needed replacing. Mulching was scantily done and we ended up spending close to $800 purchasing bulk mulch and laying more down ourselves. THE MAJOR problem we had was the damage done to our lawn along the path they used to drive the heavy machinery (like a Bobcat). They reseeded the area, but the ground was so compacted it didn't take. They came back and loosened the soil and re-seeded again. Much better but we still have a wide and long area where the ground is lower than the surrounding area due to the compaction. Kind of got tired asking for more work to be done. So, overall they are a very good contractor that strived to make things right. The reason for a "B" grade is the fact that issues should be addressed the right way the first time and not in a manner that patches the issue resulting in the customer having to call them back again. Still, they did respond promptly and did not avoid the issues. That is a BIG plus with any contractor. Perhaps they are trying to grow to big too fast and simply did not put the effort in to resolve the issues correctly the first time. Still, I think they are honestly trying their best and this may be a learning curve. We are thankful for their willingness to try to resolve issues despite still having issues outstanding."

"Overall, I thought the person that came to my home to give an estimate of the patio we wanted to build was not very professional. She came up with a sketch for the patio which did not incorporate the design ideas that I wanted. She was willing to re-sketch the design 2 times to get it right, but then seemed to get annoyed that I asked questions about the materials that were being used, the options that were available...etc. Granted she may have been having a bad week, but I expected more. Ended up going with a different contractor and glad I did because the quote I got from them was $1000 less and I loved the job they did.  <br /> Overall, I would give them a B-. <br />"

"Soon after contacting Earth Friendly Services, Calvert County Maryland, Phil Murianka contacted me, set a time to evaluate and start the requested drywall repair work.  He was professional and timely.  The work was done quickly and with high quality.  It is obvious that he can do many home repairs and improvements, and he has home improvement work experience to solve unusual problems.  I have already requested more "handyman-type" work be done at my home by Earth Friendly Services.  This company is an asset to Calvert County and the surrounding areas. <br />"

"George's was great. The water pressure on my property was an issue. George's shows up with a large van. It has a pump, a large water tank, and whatever chemicals they use to clean siding on a house. I have about a 2,300 sq foot house. It's surrounded by trees. Mold, mildew and algae grows easily. The last time I had my house done was about eight years ago. It was in serous need of a bath. Georges got about 3/4 of the job done before he had to leave. The water pressure from my well couldn't keep up with the required water replacement in the tank in the van. This being a time of COVID, I had an opportunity to go on vacation and headed out for the West Coast. Georges said they would come back to finish while I was on vacation. You pay a bit more to pay by credit card than by check. So I paid him up front with a check. I came back from vacation and the job was completed, and looked like new. I was surprised how well they cleaned the house. I trusted them, they did their job. I'll hire them again in a heartbeat .... in about five years or sooner. Their process works great. No ladders, no fuss, no muss. They can go up three stories (at least) with their washer. The chemicals didn't kill anything, and I have a lot of flowers and plants right next to the house. These guys are good."

FAQs for deck, fence, patio or porch clean and seal projects in Valley Lee, MD

You should clean your deck before sealing it. Cleaning before refinishing is critical. If you don’t remove dirt and debris, you'll trap moisture in the wood, which prevents the new sealer from working correctly and can lead to costly repairs. Whether you need to sand, power wash, or sandblast depends on your deck's condition.

Sealing and staining your deck are essential maintenance methods that protect and beautify your outdoor space. Stain adds rich color and guards against fading, while sealant fortifies the wood against moisture and weather damage. Wood type, climate, deck age, and the degree of existing damage determine whether your deck benefits from one or both treatments. Using both options extends your deck’s durability and enhances its overall appearance.

Power washing and sealing your deck costs $500 to $1,700. This process combines the removal of stubborn dirt and debris with a protective seal that preserves the wood’s integrity. Effective cleaning eliminates harmful buildup, and a proper seal prevents moisture damage and wood decay, ensuring long-term durability and reducing future repair expenses.

Your deck must be sealed every one to three years to maintain its strength and appearance. Regular sealing is essential to protect the wood against moisture, mold, and harmful UV rays. A consistent sealing schedule prevents rapid deterioration and costly repairs. Inspections should be performed annually to determine if the protective layer remains intact, extending the life of your deck.

Leaving your deck untreated compromises its structural integrity and safety. An unprotected deck rots quickly due to moisture and environmental exposure, which means that neglecting sealing results in rapid decay and expensive replacement costs of $4,125 to $11,650. Sealing your deck is essential for maintaining its durability and protecting your home.

The sealant on your deck dries within a few hours and reaches full cure within 72 hours before regular use. It is essential to wait until the complete curing period to ensure the protective layer fully sets and resists weather and foot traffic. Proper drying guarantees that your deck is fully protected against moisture and environmental damage, ensuring lasting quality.
