"Here is the deal. If you are looking for a professional who treats you like family...Keith Horton is the man! Within 5-minutes of meeting Keith I knew we were going to do business with his fine company. We talked about 3 different projects. 1st project was to take our 1972 Living Room down to studs and bring it into 2019. Wood paneling was removed, a bar area was removed, bookshelves removed, new walls were installed, doors were moved and he created more space for the master closet that used to be the bar area, plumbing work was accomplished, electrical work, can lighting installed, new ceiling installed, trimmed out everything, primed and painted to finish . From demo to finished product in 3-weeks! Every day the work area was cleaned up and he did everything possible to keep the dust spreading to other parts of the home. Outstanding job and could not ask for anything more. 1st project complete. Next he is going to build a screened in porch off of the living room. The 3rd project is to build my 24 x 30 detached garage. Keith...thank you for everything and know we will do business again real soon."

"I had Sam and his coworker come out and redid the mortar between my bricks of my front porch. They both did an excellent job and I was very pleased with their work. I would recommend them to anyone whom needs repairs on brick work or mortar between their bricks."

"I would recommend Mike to others needing handyman work done. Mike removed 3 ceiling fans, installed 1 ceiling fan and installed 2 light fixtures for me. Communication was easy and the jobs were done well. Thanks Mike!"

"Great job! Very satisfied. Professional attitude and did things right. Work involved high work on 2 story house, but was all small jobs, which these days it is difficult to find someone willing to accomplish. Jim came with needed tools, equipment and material, and knew how to properly use same. Worked safely. Careful to not cause damage to gutters or shingle overhang. To save the owner money, owner provided lumber, moulding, and/or repair pieces. Jim knew just what and how to do what I needed done and did not waste provided material. It was noteworthy was that he wasn't on his cell phone every few minutes. I appreciated that because most contractors I've observed in the last 2 decades spend half their time when on the job on their cell phone -- not thinking about getting the job at hand done, and done right. Stuck to estimate quoted and didn't try to "pad" the fee."

"Darren and his helper stopped by to provide an estimate to repair the roof shingles that had come up around the metal chimney for the gas furnace and prep/paint the metal chimney. After agreeing on the price, Darren and his helper were able to repair the shingles while they were here even though the weather was extremely hot. Darren returned in a couple of days as agreed when the weather turned cooler and prepared and painted the metal chimney. He did an excellent job and I was very satisfied.

FAQs for shed, barn or playhouse repair projects in Virginia Beach, VA

You’ll know it’s time for a new shed roof if shingles curl or buckle, soft spots sag, or water stains appear inside. Moss or other plant growth on the surface is another red flag that moisture has breached the roofing layers. Replacing the roof quickly stops leaks from spreading, protects stored items, and saves you from costlier structural repairs down the road.

Choosing between a flat and a sloped shed roof comes down to climate, budget, and upkeep. A flat roof is cheaper up front, but still needs a slight pitch for drainage. A sloped roof sheds rain and snow more easily, lasts longer, and often needs less maintenance. Weigh your local weather patterns, the look you want, and how much time you’re willing to spend on upkeep before deciding.

A shed roof’s life span hinges on the material you choose and how well you maintain it. Most standard products last 15 to 30 years, while premium picks like slate or clay tile can protect the structure for 50 to 100 years. Regular inspections, fast fixes, and routine cleaning all help you reach the upper end of those ranges and keep your tools and gear dry year-round.
