"Failed to complete flooring after we objected to him subbing in some **crew** of random people instead of finishing the work personally, as guaranteed and agreed upon. Texted us that he would consider the job complete and money owed if we did not let his crew finish the job after we requested he is present to oversee his **crew** or finish the work himself, as promised initially. Rather than complete the flooring prior to our move in date, he took another job and left our flooring job incomplete. We hired him because he expressly, explicitly told us HE would be doing the work personally (we had prior issues with flooring companies subbing out work to criminal contractors) AND could get it done within that week, as we were scheduled to move in by the end of the week. He was given 24 hour access to the home for most of the project to come and go as needed to finish the job and clean up after himself. Failed to replace existing baseboards while waiting for new ones to arrive, alleging that the new ones would be there in a day or two anyway. When half the baseboards arrived, he failed to install them that week as agreed upon. Left the home a total mess with pieces of flooring all over, HUGE pile of sawdust in garage, and dust ALL OVER the home two days before we needed to move in. Baseboards that were installed were not flush or lined up, some overlapping. Transition pieces were lifting off flooring from time of installation, never fixed. Old carpet and baseboards left in our laundry room, despite contract stating removal and disposal of. Rather than taper the hallway to level floor, as agreed upon, he arbitrarily decided to install a kit piece that left huge gap in flooring level without our knowledge or consent. Started out great but super, super disappointing in the end. How someone finishes a project is often more telling than how they start it. I would strongly recommend hiring someone else, particularly given the very high price we were going to pay in total. Fortunately, we only put 50% down, though we will have to pay a significant amount to another company to finish the work and correct the shoddy parts he did."
