"A little delay for contractor pricing out doors that we were spec'ing. Not product they normally used so I generally don't consider it their fault. Some rotting wood discovered as expected. Handled repairs well and reasonably."

"Cristian took on the complete assembly and installation of a Life Time shed 11'x11' and did a great job, including building the required base from pressure treated lumber and plywood. He came on time and worked through freezing weather without complaint and always with positive attitude. Everything was clean and thorough, very efficient and a pleasure to work with. "

"Overall, the painters did most of what I wanted, I'm just not sure I got $299 worth of professional work done.  So the deal was $299 for 8 hours of painting (or 4 hours with 2 painters).  During the phone contact, I said I only needed trim painting done and it would be all one color.  When he arrived, I showed him the areas to be painted (crown and chair molding in the dining room) and base molding in all the other areas.  I also asked that the crown molding in the kitchen be painted.  He said that the kitchen work would probably go over the time limit.  He also said since I was using white paint to go over the brown paint, it might need two coats. <br /> The began to work (there was just a few pieces of furniture to move).  At the two hour mark, they were finished with the dining room.  I was really surprised that two professional painters took that long to do one room but I thought if they were applying two coats it might take longer.  I was worried if they could complete the rest of the work.  <br /> They did finish in the 4 hours.  However, when I looked over the work, I noticed that only one coat of paint was applied (I could see some of the brown coming through).  He said that he had told me earlier that a second coat might be needed.  So, what took so long in the dining room if they didn't apply a second coat? <br /> Most of the furniture was put back where it was.  There was no mess. There was no bleed over from trim to wall or floor.  They were very respectful.  All this was very important to me. <br /> WouId I use again?  I had to pick yes or no -- my choice is "don't know."  There were some very good points, but some things disappointed me. <br />"

"Miguel has done many handyman services for me over the past 5 years at my two houses (fence, major and minor deck work, door repairs, minor electric and plumbing, carpentry work, gutters, painting, bathroom remodel, shelving install, minor roof repair, and so on). He is excellent - professional, on-time, warm and competent demeanor, he and his partner work hard for the entire time he's on the job, good problem solver, very good rates, cleans up after his job. I recommend him 100%, without hesitation! He is the best handyman I have ever had."

FAQs for shed, barn or playhouse repair projects in Washington DC, DC

You’ll know it’s time for a new shed roof if shingles curl or buckle, soft spots sag, or water stains appear inside. Moss or other plant growth on the surface is another red flag that moisture has breached the roofing layers. Replacing the roof quickly stops leaks from spreading, protects stored items, and saves you from costlier structural repairs down the road.

Choosing between a flat and a sloped shed roof comes down to climate, budget, and upkeep. A flat roof is cheaper up front, but still needs a slight pitch for drainage. A sloped roof sheds rain and snow more easily, lasts longer, and often needs less maintenance. Weigh your local weather patterns, the look you want, and how much time you’re willing to spend on upkeep before deciding.

A shed roof’s life span hinges on the material you choose and how well you maintain it. Most standard products last 15 to 30 years, while premium picks like slate or clay tile can protect the structure for 50 to 100 years. Regular inspections, fast fixes, and routine cleaning all help you reach the upper end of those ranges and keep your tools and gear dry year-round.
