"These guys were terrific from start to finish. Our existing heat pump failed, of course, during a heat wave. Vance, the sales guy made a few recommendations to enhance the operation of a new system and took the time to explain the value without being pushy. Robbin, our install planner, not only moved us up in their schedule but also provided us with 2 window units free of charge for a few days until they could install. The technicians arrived in a timely manner and knocked the install out by 5pm. They cleaned up after they were done and made sure we understood the new system. Their price was very competitive and we couldn’t be happier with the process."

"Isak was of great help in servicing our 15 y/o forced air and heat pump furnaces. He described every step of the service, taught us how the units work, and where to look for early failure. Isak also helped install and properly program our Nest thermostats so we have an efficiently running house and HVAC system. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for help!"

FAQs for window a/c unit service or relocation projects in Washington DC, DC

If your window air conditioner is relatively new or of high quality, repairing it can restore optimal performance and protect your investment. However, for older units or those with ongoing issues, it might be more cost-effective to replace the unit to ensure long-term efficiency and reliability. Consider the unit's age, the severity of the problem, repair costs versus replacement, and energy efficiency ratings when making your decision. If repairs cost more than half the price of a new unit, replacement is typically the better option.

Window air conditioners last eight to ten years on average. After this time, you may notice decreased efficiency and component wear. Replacing an older unit can improve energy savings and provide updated features like remote controls and better overall performance. With proper maintenance including regular filter cleaning, coil checks, and professional servicing, you can maximize your unit's lifespan.

If your portable AC isn't cooling, it might have a refrigerant leak or a circuit malfunction that's preventing it from working properly. It's best to contact a local air conditioner contractor to inspect and repair the unit. If your AC is older and repairs don't fix the issue, replacing it might be the most effective solution.

Removing a wall-mounted AC costs $55 to $75. Completing the removal yourself at the end of each summer season, being sure to do so according to proper guidelines, keeps you within this cost range. Should you require professional assistance for removal and disposal, if you can't move the unit yourself, expect an added fee of $25 to $50 to the overall cost.
