Customers say: Super punctual

"Excellent work. My expert Alex is so talented, and he explained everything that needed to be done, and the job was completed with impeccable timing and skill. He is also a great teacher. He showed me where an important cut off valve was located. Reliance Plumbing and especially Alex is now going to be my go-to for all plumbing projects. Thanks much."

"Installation went very well, but at the end I noticed the floor anchors are sticking out too much and the caps are not covering them. After I asked the installer if he can trim it, he said he doesn’t have hand saw and cannot use his power saw to do it. He told me I will have to buy my own saw and cut it myself. That defeats the purpose of hiring and paying for a professional to do their job!"

"Emergency Plumbing installed a water softener and a reverse osmosis system in my home, and I couldn?t be happier with the results. The difference is amazing ? now we have soft water throughout the house and great-tasting, clean drinking water straight from the tap. The team was professional, fast, and very knowledgeable. They explained everything clearly and made the entire process smooth and stress-free. I truly appreciate their quality work and attention to detail. I am extremely satisfied with their service. Thank you guys! Highly recommend. ?????"

"I have hired Permaseal to fix my unleveled patio concrete floor that was and still causing rain water to get to my basement, I have paid them $2,014.33 as down payment, they showed up one month later for the job, which is injecting foam under the concrete slab to lift it back to its original correct level. I came back home that day to find out that they have left and that the concrete slab was not only still unleveled, but they cracked it and patched it on multiple locations. I have called their customer care number more than a dozen times in attempt to understand what is going on, and on each occasion, I was told that the project manager was going to contact me back, which never happened until i made the next call, They have finally explained to me over the phone that it was the best they could do and that they could not fix my patio floor. I asked for a refund and did not hear back. I have documented pictures of before and after showing that the job was not done and cancelled the check with the remaining balance. I have not heard anything back from them since then, until i started getting debt collectors' emails on December the 5th from a business called FCR Services."

"Danny D, Jerry, and Adam, y’all are stuck with me as a client lol. They provided excellent service, funny, kind, accommodating and explained all that they were doing and all of our goals in maintaining my plumbing. They went above and beyond and I know in the future this is my go to team for our plumbing needs. They showed up last year and this year and just taught me so much in maintaining my home system and their expertise!!!"

FAQs for sump pump or interior foundation drains installation projects in Waukegan, IL

Most residential pumps draw approximately 1,300 to 2,900 watts when they first start, then settle at roughly 800 to 1,050 watts during normal operation. The exact number depends on the motor’s horsepower and how often the float switch tells the pump to run. Even at the high end, the electricity cost is minor compared with the expense of cleaning up a flooded basement.

Grab a ruler and an empty 18‑inch‑wide pit. During a steady rain, time how much the water rises in one minute. Multiply that depth (in inches) by 60 to calculate gallons per hour, then add 50% for safety. If the result tops 2,100 gallons per hour—about 35 gallons a minute—you’ll need a 3/4‑horsepower unit. Anything lower, and a 1/3- or 1/2-horsepower pump should do the trick.

Loud rattling, constant cycling, or shuddering vibrations are the pump’s way of telling you it’s on its last legs. Musty smells, higher electric bills, and visible rust are other red flags. If the unit is 10 years old or older and exhibits any of these symptoms, replace it before the next heavy rain turns your basement into a wading pool.

You don’t have to hire a licensed plumber, but you should still bring in someone who installs sump pumps for a living—whether that’s a plumber, basement‑waterproofing specialist, or experienced handyman. They know the local codes, can wire the pump safely, and will test the system before they leave. Skipping professional help might void the warranty and could leave you with a pump that fails when you need it most.

Not every basement needs a pump, but if your home sits in a floodplain, has a high water table, or has ever taken on water during a storm, a sump pump is inexpensive insurance. For basements that only struggle with condensation or the occasional damp spot, sealing cracks and improving drainage may be all that is needed.
