"We called Diversified Water to begin our project in October. We wanted a specific window, that Jack ordered through a local hardware store. They arrived to do the work November 26th, due to delays in the window order. I inspected the window before they were ready to install it and noticed it was the incorrect window. Jack reordered the window at the hardware store's expense, due to their error. The remainder of the work was complete January 23. The plastic window well cover was delivered February 2nd. The photo we were shown of the window well appears white in color and the well installed is a tan color. This was not a quick project, due to the hardware store and window manufacturer. Diversified Water completed the project as they stated and for the cost quoted. We do not have any other windows needing egress windows."

"Things went very well. The four-person crew was prompt, professional and and efficient. The foreman described what was going to happen and how. The concrete walkway, front step and driveway sections that had settled over time were gently lifted and leveled using a polymer foam. After the work, all of the driveway section seams were level and smooth. Very few traces of the work were left behind. We would highly recommend Badger Basement Systems."

"Keith did an outstanding job on the stone wall in our finished basement. He responded quickly to our call, scheduled and completed the project in the agreed amount of time and quoted a fair price. His craftmanship (and customer service) is excellent, and we highly recommend Keith/KC Masonry."

"My dad who is 93 years old needed a new water heater. His current water heater had sprung a leak. I started calling plumbing and furnace places. Due to shortage of employees, 4 places didn't even have a water heater in stock or a plumber to install one. Bob Genrich, owner actually called me back as his phone was busy. Bob was able to have a new water heater installed around noon. My father was very pleased with the service and cost. Very friendly and efficient. Bob even looked beyond the water heater and warned my father about a furnace exhaust problem. He even took the time to call me back and explain what he found and that the heater was installed. I would definitely refer friends and relatives. So kind and honest. Thanks for the peace of mind!!!! Sue, daughter in Wausau Wi"

"Excellent beyond our expectations. Great communication. Exceptional work. Wonderful ability to predict and then work to a timeline predicted. I cannot recommend more highly. We built a custom house 20 years ago and thought the contractor used at that time could never be replaced. Although Kris does not, to my knowledge, do full house construction, he displayed the management skill and trade skill to at least equal the contractor we used to build the custom home 20 years earlier."

"We've had Mike do several things for us.  He landscaped and regraded a side-yard that was having poor drainage.  Haven't had any basement water issues, since.  He installed a dishwasher for us and was willing to pick one out for us to b/c I could care less about that sort-of thing and don't have time.  He has also fixed our dryer.  He is amazing and I trust him completely!"

"Larry Schott and his crew were working on a home in a nearby suburb and could not get to my project right away but Larry stayed in touch and followed up with me to secure the job.  He worked closely with the stone company to custom cut new steps and they turned out very nice.  My only issue was that one of his crew decided to cut the bricks for the face of the steps in close proximity to where the mortar was being applied.  This resulted in the mortar having a red tinge.  Larry came back and took care of the issue and the end result is that I am satisfied. <br /> I found Schott construction to be very professional and conscientious and I would use them again. <br />"

FAQs for basement drainage channels installation projects in Wausau, WI

Expect a well-built French drain to last 30 to 40 years. By channeling both surface- and ground-water away from your foundation, the system relieves hydrostatic pressure and helps prevent costly structural damage. Choose a pipe with a quality cloth filter to keep sediment out and extend the drain’s life. A quick annual inspection and routine cleanouts will keep water flowing freely, ensuring the system continues to protect your home for years to come.

Most French drains sit two feet below grade, but depth ultimately depends on the problem you’re solving. For puddling rainwater or snowmelt, a shallow curtain drain at lawn level often does the trick. To handle rising groundwater, pros dig deeper, down to the footing, and run the pipe beneath the basement slab. A drainage contractor will determine the optimal depth for your specific soil conditions and water issues.

A properly installed interior French drain captures water at the slab, channels it to a sump pit, and directs it safely outside, preventing basement floods before they occur. Because the pipe sits just under the floor edge, a plumber can reach it easily for cleaning or repairs. Pairing the drain with a reliable sump pump gives you the best long-term protection.

Hire a contractor who installs drainage systems every day—typically a foundation specialist, drainage contractor, experienced landscaper, or plumber with waterproofing experience. These pros understand slope, soil, and local codes, and they have the equipment to trench safely around utilities. Ask for references and photos of recent jobs to be sure they can design a system that keeps water off your foundation for decades.

Once the drain is in, patch the yard by reseeding bare spots or replacing plants the crew removed. Inside, look for ways to add value—finishing the basement or upgrading interior waterproofing while the space is open often costs less now than later. Schedule a quick annual checkup to flush sediment and confirm the pipe and sump pump are clear. Consistent maintenance ensures the drain functions properly and protects your investment.

Most policies don’t cover the cost of repairing a French drain itself, but they may provide coverage for water damage if the system fails. Coverage varies by insurer, so be sure to read the fine print or contact your agent before any issues arise. If you live in a high-risk flood zone, consider a separate flood policy to close the gap. Knowing your coverage in advance helps you budget for repairs and avoid unexpected costs.
