"In addition to the gutter guards which were installed and the downspouts buried, Thrasher also changed out a misfitting basement window well and cover, and installed a Sadona dehumidifying system. Jonah and his crew of Corrin and Luis were excellent at the work they did. I was called before they arrived, to ensure I was ready for them to start work, and Jonah went over the work with me prior to starting, to confirm what was to be done. Completely professional. After it was completed, we inspected it together and everything was perfect. I will worry less next time it rains! I will definitely recommend Thrasher if anyone I know needs work done."

"The predicted installation time was 3 days and was accomplished on schedule! The installation team- Tim, Lee and Nick, were very competent, professional and friendly. They worked extra hard because it was necessary to stage their truck and trailer over 100 feet from the job site. When an unexpected problem arose where one of the engineered drain channels could not work in this application, installation team lead Tim had other solutions in mind and the company was able to deliver suitable alternate material without delaying the project. I am very pleased with the end result, and also want to recognize excellent efforts of the system designer/project estimator- Tim Miller, for his professional approach to evaluating the problem and working collaboratively with me to develop a sound solution. My thanks also to Kaylan for managing this project."

"My garage/basement wall had water intrusion and cracks. Frank Sullivan came out and provided me with available options and estimates for each solution. I chose to have I-beams installed to the floor joists and seal the cracks. The work was explained before hand and I knew what to expect. The work crew finished in under 4 hours and now I have peace of mind about the support for my home and dry basement for years to come thanks to the warranty. The work crew was excellent."

"<p>The owner, Loren, was able to come out quickly for an estimate which was promptly emailed to me.</p> <p>Loren called first thing the morning of the scheduled day to let me know what time they would arrive. Arrival was on time. Chuck who did the installation, was very experienced and did a neat, clean job. Took the morning to fish the line and install it. After the line install, my range did not slide back as far as it needed to since the range's recessed area was not as deep as some ranges. I called Loren and Chuck came back out and made some adjustments to how the line came through the wall. Range then slid all the way back. They readily came out and did not try to convince me why it wasn't necessary. Overall my experience with Boyer could be summarized as decent people doing good work at a fair price.</p> <br />"

"Courtney did an excellent job of making sure we were fully informed about our options for repairing our basement, he walked us through all aspects of the job and made himself available to answer our questions anytime. The gentlemen who came and performed the work were courteous and professional, they did a thorough clean up at the end of the job. I couldn't be happier with the results."

FAQs for basement drainage channels installation projects in Wichita, KS

Expect a well-built French drain to last 30 to 40 years. By channeling both surface- and ground-water away from your foundation, the system relieves hydrostatic pressure and helps prevent costly structural damage. Choose a pipe with a quality cloth filter to keep sediment out and extend the drain’s life. A quick annual inspection and routine cleanouts will keep water flowing freely, ensuring the system continues to protect your home for years to come.

Most French drains sit two feet below grade, but depth ultimately depends on the problem you’re solving. For puddling rainwater or snowmelt, a shallow curtain drain at lawn level often does the trick. To handle rising groundwater, pros dig deeper, down to the footing, and run the pipe beneath the basement slab. A drainage contractor will determine the optimal depth for your specific soil conditions and water issues.

A properly installed interior French drain captures water at the slab, channels it to a sump pit, and directs it safely outside, preventing basement floods before they occur. Because the pipe sits just under the floor edge, a plumber can reach it easily for cleaning or repairs. Pairing the drain with a reliable sump pump gives you the best long-term protection.

Hire a contractor who installs drainage systems every day—typically a foundation specialist, drainage contractor, experienced landscaper, or plumber with waterproofing experience. These pros understand slope, soil, and local codes, and they have the equipment to trench safely around utilities. Ask for references and photos of recent jobs to be sure they can design a system that keeps water off your foundation for decades.

Once the drain is in, patch the yard by reseeding bare spots or replacing plants the crew removed. Inside, look for ways to add value—finishing the basement or upgrading interior waterproofing while the space is open often costs less now than later. Schedule a quick annual checkup to flush sediment and confirm the pipe and sump pump are clear. Consistent maintenance ensures the drain functions properly and protects your investment.

Most policies don’t cover the cost of repairing a French drain itself, but they may provide coverage for water damage if the system fails. Coverage varies by insurer, so be sure to read the fine print or contact your agent before any issues arise. If you live in a high-risk flood zone, consider a separate flood policy to close the gap. Knowing your coverage in advance helps you budget for repairs and avoid unexpected costs.
